Ever since I built my iPad mount for my Jeep I'm always on the lookout for different Jeep or off-roading apps. Here is a list of some of my favorites or most used apps so far.

Vehicle clinometer by Smittybilt

Maps

Dash Command

Alarm Clock Hd

Slacker Radio

Iheartradio

Here is a couple pics of my iPad mounts:

My favorite is Motion X for GPS and maps. It allows you to download maps including terrain for an area so if you lose cell service, you still have maps. It can track your route and is easy to flag obstacles and annotate the map. MotionX® | MotionX-GPS HD Overview. There's an iPhone version as well.

I've been wanting to get an app to track service like oil changes, rotations as well as mods I've purchased and installed to keep track of warranties. Ideally it would take photos of receipts, etc.. Anyone know of something good?

The other thing I'd really like to get is an ODB app that shows Trans/Oil/Coolant temp and other info missing from the evic. Reads codes, etc.. I've been watching them for awhile, but they all seem to be clunky or too pricey. Can you elaborate on dash command and which hardware you use? Would love to get others insight to know if they have progressed.

I'll have to check out motionx. And I love the idea for the service app.

I use kiwi wifi and dash command for obd2 codes and system status. Check out these guys, they recently sent me an email about an upcoming obd2 app. Mobile Site Preview

I've been using Gas Cubby for a long time. Does all the above. I use it for the F800GS bike, the Jeep and son's dirt bike. Also tracks fuel, etc.

I also like GasBuddy to find gas. Pure Gas to find E0 gasoline if I can (especially for my bike!). WhatKnot can come in handy (TRUCKERS HITCH!). StarTracker. CampWhere (Other good stuff here too) There is one called CampList so not to forget stuff, but I like Quick CheckLists instead. More versatile and uses for everything, but it is almost 5 years old. Still great.

FAVORITE JEEP APPS
I found a few other apps I like and put them on a thread called http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/iphone-tips-for-off-roading-191693.html. To save you wading through that here is what I think is must have jeep apps.
  • Red Cross "First Aid" and "WebMD"
  • Weather Apps Like MyRadar, NOAA Radar, Weather Channel, optional but fun "Jeep Weather"
  • "What Knot", "Knots 3d Free" and "Knots"
  • Speed Box - It tells your speed. It's rather pointless but you may want it if you have larger tires and haven't recalibrated the speed.
  • Storing the user Manual in iBooks. Being able to quickly search has come in handy tons.
  • The Jeep app is mostly junk but is good for checking maintenance schedules
  • Commander Compass - I have had some issues with this under 100 yards but it's pretty good to have. I think it also goes by "SpyGlass". It's cool if nothing else.
  • "Flashlight"
  • Fuelly Mobile(bookmarked web page but works like an app) Hand tracks mpg, fuel cost, cost per mile, with graph and stuff on the desktop.
  • GasBuddy
  • YouTube
  • FORUMS= "WF Access", "JK Forum", "JeepForum", "WAYALIFE"
  • Skitch - Its a photo editor where you can add text, lines, circles and arrows to point out stuff
  • "Google Maps" has good turn by turn directions, and "Waze" for long road trips to spot cops
  • Yelp to find places to eat when your in BFE
  • iHeartRadio (custom station by artist) for road trips then you can skip songs. If it says I have skipped too many songs for the day then I go to Pandora.
  • Google Drive - I store a checklist for wheeling. I also store login and passwords there as soon as I create them all over the place. Maybe I'm paranoid but I actually just give myself hints of what the passwords are.
  • There's a FREE app called Wheelin'.
