I recommend a winch. mine was lifted by the po and I wish he put a winch instead. I'd rather be able to get out of trouble before I can get myself into it any deeper.

if you have a steel recycling place or steel supplier in your town get a piece of 3/8 plate that will fit on your jeep and get a good drill and set of bits and make your own. thats my plan when I get my winch.

You can have whatever lift you want, all your gonna do is test it and end up in a situation you may need a winch regardless. Stock jeep with a quality winch will get you farther though some stuff than a lift will I say.

And a cheap winch is a cheap winch. May sit on jeep for looks for a year but that one time you need it all cold and wet in the winter stuck in a trail in ice and snow, and its locked up not working.... You'll never care how much that thing was when your still sitting their haha. Ask me how I figured that one out!

I vote a quality winch first!

Everyone says warn but I.don't have money not if.I did would I put that much in a winch I like engo as if now.
I said that for years and ended u with the M series Warn winch and its just awesome. It's fast to which is real nice once you play with some basic ones but I hear ya a little nuts to budget. But think of the cost of how bad things can be if your really stuck and a winch isn't working. Hoping your at a legal spot as well. And if I used mine more than once a month which I have I completely forgot the cost knowing its gonna outlast 2-3 cheap winchs.

That said my last TJ I did the 9k Engo. Used a good amount for little things and couple stuck times. Kid who has my jeep now is still using it and he's abusive to things so they are proving to work pretty well. Think that ones 2 years old now with real use. Not a bad winch man either way beats not having one! Go for it!

Not all cheap winches are CHEAP winches

My 8.5k Rugged Ridge has done great so far I even used it to pull a truck twice the weight of my jeep out of a ditch on the 3rd line out without a problem, the line didnt hardly slow down. I pulled it without stopping every 15 sec and after I pulled the truck out I check to see how hot the motor was and it was still cool to the touch.

Agree. Not trying to say a cheap winch is cheap overall. Warn makes cheaper winchs even now they just outsourced that line outside the USA. anything outside the states will cost less majority the time. Bit their are some winchs for 3-500 dollars that def get the job done. Engo did me well for I think 289 shipped to my door!

However time goes on I personally support USA built products and enjoy the piece of mind for a strong product that will last and be backed up if anything did go wrong
