What does TJ,CJ,YJ Mean?

:) Can someone please tell me what does the TJ,CJ,YJ Mean on a jeep i am kind of new to the jeep family better then the Toyota i had. Thank You.

Only one that ever meant anything was the CJ for Civilian Jeep. After that it was nothing more than a designator for a particular platform. Kind of like GM called the Firebird/Camaro the F body.
TJ 97-06 (LJ being the unlimited)
YJ 87 - 95
CJ 44 (CJ2) all the way to 86

Don't forget the "TK" 07 Wrangler

And while we're on the subject, In Canada they will be called Wrangler from 07 on. They used to be called by their two letter designation because GM owned the rights to "Wrangler" in Canada. They used it on a trim package on some pickup trucks years ago. They came to an agreement and not it's a Wrangler.

I never knew that , your absolutely right , they never refer to them as Wranglers , just TJ's etc . :)
