General Purpose was slurred into JEEP, supposedly.
There was the DJ - Dispatcher's Jeep
The CJ meant "Civilian Jeep".

I don't think YJ was just a designation and never meant anything, but I see how people call it "Yuppy Jeep" like they say TJ means "totally joking".

Anyone have a valid or conceivable definition for YJ? Or it's just 2 letters?

I have heard of them being called yuppy jeeps, but I believe the YJ is just the name they were sold as in Canada. I've seen 87-95 wranglers in Canada labeled in the pin-striping as "YJ" rather than "wrangler" that we see in the U.S.. I could be wrong but that's the only explanation I've ever heard.

No, it was Yuppie Jeep. Even back in 87. Those were the targeted customers and the only people that had money enough to buy them. Young Urban Professionals

They certainly aren't for yuppies any more! You need to be *******/jimmy rigger certified before you even step within 10 feet of one
