The e brake on my 91 went out: pedal went to the floor. Hoping it's just a snapped cable. If mechanism/pedal broke, might be replacing pedal assembly (and cable).
It already had the brake recall repair. The right side cable snapped at the equalizer. I bought some cable and clamps to fix it up until the weather gets warmer and I can replace all three cables.
With some cable rope, a few cable clamps, and some hooks I managed to get the ebrake working for now. In the spring I'll change out the rear cables completely.
Lots of new parts - O2 sensor, distributor cap & rotor, spark plug wires, front rotors, pads on the front, shoes in the rear - passed inspection. Next is chassis saver & new seats up front.
Went from 30's to 33's and loving it. Next week I have to match the paint and do a little work in the door jams. And some WD on the hinges so that the doors might actually come off lol
How big of a hole did you have to cut out I did some on a friends jeep and he got cheapo ones that were like 4-1/4 hole but I think he should get these instead
New RMS,new oil pump, new starter. I used the Vaseline trick to prime the oil pump. Worked well. Pressure steady at 45-50psi. No leaks as of yet. Fingers crossed!!
Had bought new dash speakers (Polk) but when it came time to install I decided that it would be easier to go with the Centra-Pod and 6.5" kickers. Added a small/slim 8" powered sub and damn it sounds nice for a Jeep! When summer gets here and I can take the hard top off I'll drop the windshield and do the dash speakers but to be honest I'll only be doing it because I already have the speakers. Was a little hesitant on the Centra-Pod but after hearing it, those fears are gone!
Now if I could just get around to fixing the dang inside drivers door handle so I don't have to roll down the window to get out of the damn thig that would be nice!
My Happy Hulk Jeep has been side-lined for a while as I worked through maintenance it needed in an attempt to remove the Death Wobble.
I'm happy to say that 4 new Bilstein 5100 shock and a new steering stabilizer shock along with an alignment removed the Death Wobble from my Jeep's operating characteristics! I'm ready for Spring now.
A lot...new battery...new top...new 12" led lightbar. I went with an AGM group 34 diehard gold. The warranty was good and the price right. Sears gave me $40 in bonus shopping rewards just for buying it. That pretty much made it the best deal in town.
I bought a rampage 2 piece safari top for $12 on Amazon in the warehouse deals. The description said the box was damaged and parts might be missing. When I got it, everything was there, it just looked like someone sat on the box.
Took the top of and began assessing what needs to be done to clean up the interior of the tub.
Put some road miles on her and realized the OP had winter oil in her as oil pressure seemed to low. Put 10W30 in her and the at idle while hot pressure improved, but still low to my liking. Maybe 10W40 would make us both happy. She has a 2.5L with 245,000 miles.
Looked at removing the seats to paint the tub interior --- UH OH --- the fronts not gonna come out easy. Might take the lazy way out, mask off the seat frames and paint around them, but not before I give it another try later today. Seems they like to put in longer than needed bolts for seat mounts, probably a safety thing .... or maybe just as rust catchers. PB Blasted them.
When I bought this 95 YJ, I knew it was going to be a project ..... might be a bigger one than I initially thought .....
What WAS I thinking! :lmao:
