Im upgrading my tires to 35X12.50 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and I heard that I should upgrade my braking system. Im driving a 2015 wrangler unlimited sport and wanted to know what other modifications y'all recommend doing (specifically tuning) when upgrading to 35".

For 35s you'll need either flat fenders or some lift. The factory fenders won't cut it under flex.

For 12.5" wide you'll have to have a wheel with proper backspace, or use spacers on your factory wheel.

Tuning is a waste of $$ IMO. Depending on your current gears you might need to regear. If you have stock 3.21 you will need to, if you have the optional 3.73 you can get away with it.

I've run a light 35 before and been OK with brake performance. But bbigger/better brakes are always a worthwhile upgrade.

If your planning on putting a 35" spare on your carrier you might want to upgrade that as well. I figure with that tire you will be around 100lbs, maybe more with a aftermarket wheel.

I appreciate all the help and welcome.

I’m believe I am running the stock 3.37 Gear Ratio bc I have the towing package upgrade and I also read that the brake fluid bore is an 8th of an inch bigger along with the rotors being 13” all stock. So with those upgrades and without a tune I should be ok to run 35x12.50?....

some recommend getting the larger brake fluid bore and another component I’m not familiar with to run the big brake system and run it right

In 2015 the tow package didn't include the 3.73 gears, only the MAX Tow package did. All JK brakes in 2015 were the same, there was no factory option to make them bigger. There's no such thing as a bigger bore on any of them.

The only "tune" you need is to program the Jeep for the bigger tires (and different gears if you regear)

Been a long day. I decided to upgrade my rotors and pads and ran into a “spinning lug nut”. I got lucky and it was the lug nut and not the stud and a local mechanic was able to remove it for $20.

Furthermore I was able to replace my brake pads but was ignorant about the brake shims that were attached to the pad itself and thought it was just part of the packaging (plus the piston would fit over it) so I took them off.

Does anyone know if you have to run brake shims if they’re included on the pad ?
