I own a 2013 Rubicon, 3.6L and I added a DIY Grill Insert and I am just checking to make sure I am getting good airflow and temps. Today was a cool day and the thermostat stayed in the half way zone. My digital thermostat reached 220 degrees at one point. What would be the normal and a excessive temperature?

Sounds normal but that is why I chose NOT to install the grill guard. On the road the engine temps appear normal, but once stopped, the temperature rises. I believe the grill guards limit the air flow somewhat.

The DIY grille insert I installed has a 70% open area. Did not have a negative effect on my temps.

I wouldn't worry unless the stupid light comes on. Normally everything should be okay up until 260 or so. It'll throw a code and give you a message, just pay attention to it. I removed the engine cover and am using it as garage art, those things are friggin' dumb.
