Howdy.
New to wranglers and the forums here.


I have a stock '06 tj with stock tires/rims 215/75 r15.

I did some searching and it looks like I can get 30/31 inch tires.

Do you recommend anything specific? This jeep is my normal transportation as well as a weekend play thing, most of my travel for work is interstate, about 30 mins 1 way.

I would like something a little more off road friendly, as well as not wearing out super fast from pavement driving.

you could def. go with a 30 but might be able to squeeze a 31 if you dont plan on doin any type of serious wheeling. i had 31's on my stock junk with no rub on the road. off road was a whole different story.

Driving that much, I would probably stay with a 30" tire, and run some sort of All-Terrain. I had really good luck with BFG A/T's and I actually got really good mileage out of my Pro-Comp XTerrains, but they are a bit pricey, and not sure they make them that small.

You won't be much bigger than stock. You will see a slight decrease in gas mileage. If you keep them inflated to about 38 psi for highway driving they will last longer. They will ride a little rougher, but you will get better mileage and longer tread life. Air them down for offroading.

30's come stock on some jeeps so you will clear them fine and gas mileage decrease will be near unnoticeable.

I'd go 31's in the most agressive tread pattern you think you can live with as you'll only want to upgrade 30's in a couple of months

No rub with 31's.. good to know.. I am not going to be wheeling anytime soon as the Jeep is my daily driver and I don't have the money to fix broken things.. yet.... but I am gonna upgrade wheels and tires.. no rubbing even when in a full turn??

pking911 I recently purchase a 06 rubicon. I upgraded the suspension and tires. I still have the stock 31" mtr's and moab wheels with 5000 miles on them. If you are interested in a bigger tire let me know. What part of AL are you in? I'm down in Mobile.

the stock tires had 33 psi...you'd probably be fine with 35 or 38. i know a guy that runs his ranger tires at 40. i personally wouldn't run mine near that high as the ride sucks...but thats probably because of the mud tires i have...when i had stock street tires they had 33 or 35 and rode fine.

According to my "tire guy" they recommend that for the ride. For actual gas mileage and tire tread life, he says 38-40 will give you better in both.

i've seen pics of people sticking 32s in there.. just they gotta be preatty clean instead of raggy and pointy like most offroad tires.

We had 31's on our prev wrangler (2006) with some cragar wheels. 31x10.50. They didnt rub...we used Bridgestone DUELER AT REVO's and they have a great ride, 60k warranty, and have good offroad traction for most driving. Best tire we have ever used on any of our Wranglers (we have had 4, buying our 5th this weekend).
