So long story short. The 1/2 doors on my 2012 JKU were stolen. After being very patient and working nicely with insurance company they got me paid. Now the question come in to play as they said that I am not required to have the doors replace that is up to me but the money is mine regardless. So when this happened I bought full steel doors because they were cheap and ran with them till this got settled.

Should I have my OEM 1/2 Door replaced and painted to match. This will cost me out of pocket minimum of 1K even with their pay out.

Or take the money they said is mine free and clear, buy trail doors and have some other large projects knocked out.

What they paid me was $6523.00 so I can get some nice trail doors and have stuff like re-gear and lockers knocked out.

But nothing looks more Bas AZZ than a lifted JKU on 35's with 1/2 IMO but the weather here in Mass. being so ruff, I would only use 1/2 doors a few months a year then back to full doors in winter.

What would you do?

I would definitely knock the other projects out and forget about replacing the original doors. 6500 is a nice payout. May e I'll get my doors stolen too : p haha.

Set it aside, save up and make do with what you have. Then when you have enough stashed away, splurge and knock out everything at once.

Or you could go to McDonald's and order 6,523 hamburgers.

That sucks! As for me, I am ordering my JKU with half doors and would replace them with OEM half doors instead. I don't like the look of the full doors much. I live in the south and get a lot more use out of the 1/2 doors than you do. It's up to you in the end. You have full doors now, so maybe do your regearing, etc and buy some aftermarket half doors?

I would just get some canvas trail doors for the summer months, but that is just me. I would then stash the rest or take a relaxing vacation!

Well my vacation is when I go to work.. I am an engineer on an 87 foot Coast Guard Cutter so I get frequent trips out to sea and up and down the east coast. For me a relaxing trip would be a long Jeep trip, camping ect. and I can do that anytime. But I am looking at Body Armor trail doors.

For me doing everything at once is boring because in a month or two you are bored and have everything done. By doing a little here and there I get to watch it grow, and see how it performs in different stages. Also doing a build over time gives me time to make decisions and should my taste change in mid stream I can keep the flow going. I would hate to drop 10k at once just to find something I like better a week later and wish I had of gotten it. But it is really nice to have a lot of Jeep parts show up at once to, so I see your point.

Since you asked, I would put $3,250 into mods and $3,250 on to the loan principal.

Was curious about jeep parts theft because I run hard top off with t tops parts in the back in case of bad weather. If someone stole them or doors ect does insurance go up. I know some run doors without the torx screws on was kinda worried about that

Forget about the doors for now. Get all the other stuff on your wish list done first. Get some cheap tube doors to get you buy...

Ok well just made deal finial going to pay deposit tomorrow. Looking at re-enforcing the D30, gear 4.88, Locker most likely ARB. Rear axle 4.88 and ARB as well. I think I can save some cash on something electric like Auburn Etched would save 400 on the set. I have, well had onboard air but looks like I overhead my compressor and cracked the head. Shopping for a VIAIR compressor now. I really would love to do the Pro Rock 44 but just is not in the budget I am lucky to be getting gears and lockers done.
