How difficult is it to install a SYE? Does it require seperating and dropping the t-case?

It doesn't require dropping the t-case, but makes the job considerably easier. If you are compitent with hand tools, and can follow directions, you can do it yourself, but it will take a few hours...

No way. Hour and a quarter at the most. It's easy. Just pay attention to the instructions, the first time you do one. No need to take the case out. Air tools for the yoke nuts will be extremely nice. Have patience with the snap rings as they can be a pain in the ass. And use a gooooood sealant on the tailhousing and the rear case half. You don't want to get it all done and then realize that it's leaking. I like a sealant called "The Right Stuff". It's a little more expensive but it would've sealed up the titanic.

Oh, and make sure it's in 4LO before you start so that you can make sure there's plenty of clearance on the shift rail.

Hopefully that will hope you avoid the same mistakes I made. Having decent snap ring pliers and lock ring pliers will go a long way in making the installation and removal of the stock gear a lot easier. Your going to need some very large snap ring pliers. Don't be intimidated by the install, it really isn't that difficult. I'm confident that I could do the job in two or less hours now. It is your first time doing something like this so allow yourself the better part of the day as I'm sure you are not going to rush through it. Who are you looking at getting an SYE from? I purchased mine from DC4WD, $470 shipped, but that was several months ago. It included a Terra ESS and a TW DS. IMHO a lot nicer SYE then the AA. Hope this helps.

Actually, I have some other question on the SYE.
I am getting ready to order a RE 3.5 standard lift and install it. I know all jeeps are different, but I was wondering on all the TJ jeep owners that have installed a 3.5" lift, did you need a SYE to be installed? I am debating on ordering it all at once or installing the lift and hoping for the best. If I get the vibes order it later.

Also, with the SYE, do you need a custom length drive shaft or is there CV drive shaft that you can buy without having to take the measurement, ordering it and waiting for it to come in to install? My jeep is a day to day driver and I dont have another vehicle to drive if I have to wait for a drive shaft to be ordered.
