What kind of price would you put on this CJ?


All steal beautiful 100% rust free body. All modification's were professionally done. 425 HP small block Chev V8, 4 bolt main, big rods and forged high compression piston's, GM performance unstamped angle plug camel hump ported heads ($2800.00), Edelbrock "Scorpion" intake and 750 Holley carb, full roller motor, complete MSD ignition, Moroso 7qt oil pan, fender dump headers, complete functioning nitros system (runs optional), lots of bolt on polished stuff also (alternator, valve covers, air cleaner, etc.). Top Loader 4spd with Hurst linkage and new 12"clutch, flywheel and pressure plate. New front and rear drive lines. Dana 60 rear end, Dana 44 front, both lockers with 4.10 gears. Looped drive line, strapped rear end. New shocks. Dutchman axles ,4-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, chrome tilt steering column and wood Chev steering wheel. Dana 20 Twin stick transfer case with billet shifters. Painless wiring and switch box, Sun gauges including tach, New wipers, heater box, gas tank, optima battery and aluminum rear mounted box, all lighting is new. New full roll cage. New Best top with tinted windows and new Best front seats. Locking "Tuffy" center console with mounted internally CD remote stereo, CB, fire extinguisher. New windshield frame and glass. Chrome bumpers. New "American Racing" alloy wheels and 33x12.50x15 Goodyear Wrangler "MTR"s. I know I've missed something? $$ Tens of thousands invested $$! It is street legal, currently licensed and title in hand. Very sand worthy and wickedly powerful! Tons of receipts.

I really don't think it has been used for anything real after the build-no shroud and that radiator, it WILL run hot. A lot of information missing that will be critical to how it functions off-road.

Are we supposed to assume it's a 350? And what cam? Compression ratio? MD Juan body?

The Dana 20 will be 2:1 low range unless aftermarket gears are used, and with 4.10's, Ford top loader with a 2.32:1 first gear, and an engine with a low probablity of having any low end torque, what you have is a street Jeep despite decent Dutchman axles. May as well be 2X4.

So what would I pay for it? Maybe 10k if the sheet metal is actually as good as it appears to be and it ISN'T an MD Juan body, but doubt it. It would need a lot more tweaking before it would fit my use.

But if you are looking for a spunky street Jeep-might just be the ticket.

The seller lists it having a 2 lever dana 20 transfer case. I thought the dana 20 had a single lever. Did they make a 2 lever dana 20?

The big index D18 and the D20 share the same case so to 2 stick a D20, you just need to use a 2 stick D18 front housing. Straight bolt-on swap.

What is the asking price? Just curious. I could see having 20 to 25k in that putting it together but some of it is pure stupid, including nitros and spending $2800 on GM iron heads. Can get some wicked off-the-shelf aluminum ones for less than that which allow you to run a whole unit more compression.

He wants 15k for it. I haven't got to talk with him to see if he's actually ran it much. Like you said probably a quick street jeep. I love the 3B's though and that's a pretty one. I just saw a nice stock one go for $9100. on ebay. I'd prefer one with the Vortec engine though.

Well for, me while the engine and axle sound nice once I see its a 3b I just walk away.. now as for a price i would think based on only the pic's 7-10k max.

Sell the nitros, install ProFlo 2, probably a different cam and install a shrouded aluminum radiator and it would work on the trails-just not much of a low gear. But it wouldn't be difficult to install a SM465 and have it all. The transmission cover looks like it got hacked a bit anyway.

Personally, I like 3B's but certainly didn't always feel that way. That extra hood height makes a lot of things possible that wouldn't be otherwise. That said, I have mine about maxed out. This year is my 40th anniversary owning my 55 and wouldn't trade it for any other CJ model now.

To each their own. And for the record, it is actually easier to see over a 3B hood than it is seeing over a JK hood. A little bit shorter memory game in the rocks.

Thanks for the info duffer. Got a picture of your '55? The Muncie trans would be nice , like you say a easy swap, and yeah the nitros would go right away. The Proflo 2 is kind of spendy.

Yeh it is, but it REALLY works well. Took awhile to get used to the concept that you can change just about anything that relates to fuel or spark while flying down the road or in the middle of a mud hole. Probably makes the EPA guys break out in a cold sweat.







Even after 40 years, 3 different sbc's, 2 each transmissions and transfer cases, still a work in progress.

Say duffer. The white jeep is still on the market, I haven't driven it yet or even been down there to take a look at it and the owner isn't very verbose. From what you know about the Ford transmission how will that work for most 4wd situations. I'm not really looking for a crawler. How much would a Warn overdrive make in it on the highway? Thanks Howard
