I'm getting my 8.8 installed this week and want to get the new tires on at the same time. I've decided to go with 35" MTRs, is 4" backspacing going to work ok with these? I know the 8.8 is about 1.5" narrower than the m35, and the 31x10.5s and stock rims I have on now seem really close to rubbing. I'll also be running a RE 4.5" LA lift if that makes a difference.

That's 3/4" of an inch inward more on each side that you need to compensate for so I wouldn't go with 4" of BS. That'd be like running 5.25" of BS on the Dana axle which would obviously be way too much BS.

I am thinking you're going to need a wheel like an American Eagle where most of their 15x8 wheels with the Wrangler's 5x4.5" bolt pattern have around 3.25" of BS.

You could easily run a 3.75" or 3.5" backspaced wheel with out rubbing anthing on an 8.8. It puts the tire out far enough.
