Yesterday, I took the wife and boys to Tuttle Creek ORV near Manhattan, Kansas. Its 6000 acres of rough trails maintained (barely) by the Army corps of engineers. There are miles of intersecting dirt, mud, and rock trails and creeks.

I have a 2013 JKU Moab that consists of the AEV steel front and rear bumpers, AEV front skid plate, MOPAR rock rails and skid plates, and a Warn 9.5 cti winch. No suspension upgrades, lockers, or quick disconnects. Front Dana 30 and Goodyear Silent Armor p245/75r17s.

We did great! A couple of rock obstacles I had to back up to get a better line and give it some gas, but otherwise no issues!

Here's some common hills that we encountered…hill decent worked really well over this terrain. Not so well on the rocks.

Looks like fun! I plan on wheeling my JK stock this summer as well. What happened on the last pic, did you bottom out?

Looks like a lot of fun! I am just a few hours from Tuttle Creek and have been meaning to get up there. Are there any more difficult areas that you didn't want to go through? After this rain (finally) it could be interesting.
There are plenty more difficult trails than I went on. I didn't even tackle any obstacles except for the Narrow Shoot, which would have been more difficult had there been more mud. We were just enjoying being out alone.

Been to Tuttle Creek a few times in my old Rubi ( but not in my new sport). It can be a pretty fun place, looks like you pushed through tougher stuff than I was willing to do :)

I will tell you this though, be careful if you go after rain. Some of the holes are REALLY deep. I went through one ( had rocks on both sides), and the front end just dropped out from under me. the hole wasn't much bigger than my jeep. The only thing that stopped me from destroying my Jeep and stranding me and my kids was the fact the pumpkin got caught on the ledge. Got a pull out from some friendly young guys in a truck.

All in all a great place!

We were completely high centered! There was NO ONE around, though a mile hike in the correct direction would have lead us to someone. Ideally, we would have gone out straight back, but I was without a Hi-Lift and had only one snatch block. I plan to remedy both issues. Going forward was a T intersection that sloped at a 45 degree angle, descending from the drivers side. Getting out the gear from the rear was kinda difficult. The rear bumper was over 4 foot off the ground and under the Freedom Tops. Standing on the forward approach was an epic task of its own. We unloaded the boys and I decided to try the forward approach. My wife couldn't watch!

Some guys on ATVs showed up about this time and gave some helpful hints. My bumper and winch were buried in the bank on the other side…my sunglasses were somewhere underneath. The passenger side rear fender was equally buried in the sand. Right before the current pic, I was at much more of a vertical angle…but since my wife couldn't watch…no pics.

BTW, other than the fact that I was able to recover my Jeep unscathed, what would be the best recovery option for this ordeal had I been alone, but had all necessary tools?

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but you could have possibly winched yourself forward pulling the front end up slightly using a sturdy tree across that intersection until your rear wheels made contact. After that you could have crept down the hill on your rear wheels also using the winch. That's a sticky situation!
Maybe! I feel like a rearward recovery using multiple snatch blocks would have been best, but I've only seen it on video.

Yea i wouldve pulled myself forward carefully and then gone home and ordered a budget boost haha when we take out new jeepers with 4 doors they always get high centered. And then they show up with a lift next time lol the 4 doors really benefit from them. awesome pics by the way man i honestly miss having a stock jeep makes everything so challenging!
