I'm torn between the BFG AT and the ProComp AT. It's not my DD, there's a lot of sand around here and apparently some rocky trails (so I've been told). Which one is a better all around tire? Comments, suggestions, etc...

Honestly if you don't DD the rig then I'd say neither of those. There are lot better tires that will work for you in both sand/mud and rocks than the two you mentioned.

Baja Claws, BFG MT, GY MT/R, Pro Comp X-Terrains, etc....

x2...but if it is mainly road driven when it is driven then maybe an AT wouldn't be a bad choice...i really like my bfg mud terrains.

X-treme A/T, Mickey Thompson MTZ, Cooper STT, Toyo Open Country A/T & M/T

List goes on... but you can choice by looks or performance whichever will make your pokets happy in the end. :D

I'm still not sold on those Cooper STT's. I'm awful leary of any tire that has had a recall on it.

Always hard to pick a good tire. There are a lot of them. Between the two you asked about, I would go with BFG. I have used that tire(different version of the AT) before and it did well for street and trail. You will hear good and bad points about every tire, some who love them some who hate them. You will see some do great in one aspect only to fall flat on its face in another.

I have a set of both the BFG A/T (Chevy Z71) and ProComp A/T (GMC Yukon XL 4wd). I only have about 10k on each set but as far as traction is concerned they both are great in the snow (which is still falling as I type!) and wet roads. The BFG is a little better in mud then the ProComps. Both have about the same noise level (not much) and appear to wear about the same. I would have got another set of BFG's for the Yukon but I took a chance on the Procomps due to price and have not been disappointed so far. I don't have any experience with either tire on a Jeep, unfortunately the Jeep gets the cheap stuff (Prime Well A/T's fm Firestone)since it's just a weekend toy!!!

If you are just looking for a basic A/T I think you'd be pleased with either although if you intend to do any type of heavy wheeling you might better look into a M/T...I purchased both sets of tire from http://www.tirepackage.com/. The prices seemed good (free shipping with road hazard purchase) and the tires arrived within 2 weeks.

I've been looking into some of the tire suggestions and size seems to be an issue. I currently have the 31" BFG AT's (bought them used) and would like to move up to a 32. 33's aren't an option right now. I've noticed that very few companies carry the 32. I saw them in BFG MT's and I think the goodyear tire. I like the look of the pro comp x-terrain but they don't carry it in a 32. Will the BFG MT's be ok on the highway? Unless I go to the trails at the beach, local trails are hours away.

I just bought some BFG ATs and am waiting for delivery. I live at the beach and all we have here is sand, no rocks or thick mud. I see very few M/Ts around because A/Ts work better in the sand. There are alot of good tires out there. I would suggest seeing what people in your area like to run.
