I need new wheels (and tires). I'm having trouble deciding, also open to suggestions. I like the look of beadlock, will settle for 'fakes'. So, looking at Method 305 NV, these mammoths, These Method 307s

or these pro comps

which look like the Methods but are cheaper. I'm sticking with the size that was on there when I bought it. 16"



Here is what it looks like right now. I've hated all the chrome and been removing it piece by piece. Frankly, the less I can spend on the wheel the better, but these pitted so badly in my Eastern Washington/mountain winters I don't want to get crappy wheels. These wheels and tires were on when I bought it.

What are you going to be doing as far as types of driving/trails?


My last rig was a 2000 TJ and I had the Pro Comp 69 Series Vintage on it.. I loved them even though most say they weren't that good of wheel I would do it again on the TJ. I did replace the center cap with a chrome bullet type. The only chrome on the jeep and it looked great. If you can imagine the look of a wheel on a Police SUV(check out my last rig in my profile). And very reasonably priced.

I am not a real jeeper. :redface: I am, however, a backpacker and a backcountry skiier. So, I will drive very dubious "roads" (Montana's definition of a road is VERY dubious!) and we have lots of snow and ice here, plus my skiing. I also drive this on 1600+ mile roadtrips to go backpacking heh.

If that's the case, I would stay away from the beadlocks.. Safety concerns will out weigh any benefits. Wheel selection is a very personal thing, when it comes to design. No one can tell me what I like or what I think (that might be a character defect).



Tire selection might be your most important part of the decision. Something for rain/ice and snow will be more important to you than I know about.. Hopefully you get some good, unbiased, advice.

Bought Mammoth Generals last month. Really happy. I have 17's on the Jeep and a 16 for my spare which is like a pizza cutter, but the same height as my 4 17's under the Jeep. Thinner and lighter weight on the tail gate was the goal, but same diameter. After doing this, I kinda wish I'd gone with 16's all around. Only kinda. The Generals have great specs for a Wrangler and they're light weight for a lower priced faux bead lock.

Well, I learned a lot today, visiting several 4x4 stores and a Les Schwab by my house that some people I trust recommended. So, I don't want a steel wheel. And with the winters we get, and the road de-icer, I think alloy is the better choice too, and easier to balance. Apparently, getting a 16" wheel with circles instead of spokes, that has a fake beadlock look is like a damn unicorn. I'll probably end up with the Method 305s, even though I didn't really want to spend another $100/wheel. I'm looking at this raceline, too, but I'm not sure about how the two tone will look.


ETA: I am not sure that the gloss black steel pro comps should be out. Are they too heavy? Is it true that the winter de-icers will ruin that finish? Did someone feed me a line of horsesh-t?

16” in general has less wheel options. Check out KMC XD wheels.

The ATX Ravine's just dropped about $50 a wheel... Worth going up to 17's in my humble opinion.

I found a set of 4 wheels ATX Series for sale online that came off a 2011 Jeep Cherokee and wanted to know because of the backspacing that is unknown of the Cherokee will it fit on my 2009 Jeep JK.
