yes and no. yes it will physically fit in the jeep. no it will not hook up to the wiring/ computer correctly without work. the YJ runs on an OBDI system where as the TJ runs off the OBII system. so all of your electronics are going to be different. im sure theres a way to make it all work but its not going to be plug and play.
True, usually even year-to-year wiring is different. Petty little pigtail connectors that are changed for really no reason. That's why if someone put in an engine not made for the vehicle, lots of splices and crimps are made.
Blake is right, though. The wiring for OBDI => OBDII is much different. For emissions testing, vehicles made in or after 1997 are federally mandated to have OBDII. If you don't have to pass emissions/smog, like me, you can squeak by, but good luck selling your Jeep to someone who does.
