Well guys just as the title states... what should I do? As you have probably already guessed, I don't have a garage. I live in Miami, FL and one thing that hadn't yet crossed my mind is "Will my softtop survive a hurricane?"
My whole interior is rhino-lined and I have no CD-player or anything, no electronics for me to worry about... would I be better off taking the roof completely off or is it secure enough to stay on? It's a Bestop top, and it's either that top or a Bikini top which I'm pretty sure wouldn't survive. So, any suggestions??

What category is the hurricane in question?

The next one that's supposedly going to hit us is a category 4. Might go down, might go up, might not even hit us... but just in case. I'll hope for the best and prep for the worst.

If you have a garage, thats probably it. Just make sure your insurance is good and worry about keeping yourself/family safe.

No garage, my family will be fine, hurricane Andrew did nothing to my house and that was a category 5... But about the YJ! Should I take the top off? Will it be gone after the storm?

I don't even have full coverage, I'll get it before the storm hits this Tuesday. I had PIP and when I bought the YJ not too long ago and my insurance company said they don't accept 4x4 trucks? I'd never heard of that, so, that rather amazed me. They covered me for two months tops and those two months are about over anyway, so, I'll get full coverage.

131 - 155 mph winds...I think your top might get screwed in that little storm. Buckle down and be safe.

Oh God NO! I failed to explain myself yet again. I'm not going to be driving at all! I'll be inside of my house all shuttered up safe and sound! My YJ will be outside suffering the vicious winds of a category 4 hurricane though, will SHE BE SAFE?! :p

As Scout has said, with winds of a cat 4, there's a good chance the top will get damaged/destroyed. Even of the winds alone don't do it, think of all the debris that will be airborne.

Maybe the best thing is to park the jeep as close to the home as you can, so it will be somewhat shielded - sort of as a wind break.

I've found the best place to be during a hurricane is 3 sheets to the wind!
The top will probably see some damage. Board it up!

If you turn it upside down, that might help. :p
