Hey all,
I've decided to take out the stock switch plate and see what I can do with it. I have a 13 JK and I think its ridiculous that we can't use the stock plank switch plates. I have a no-frills Sport model with leaves me with 4 empty places.

Just google Remove JK Dash to see how to get this part out. It couldn't be easier. Four 9/16 screws and unplug some connectors. Then four screws to remove the plate from the dash piece.

So here is the progress so far.

I had to grind off about an 1/8 of an inch on the bottom of the switch plate so it would move. And also I used some small push buttons I had.

Jeep played a trick on us here. The switches that actually should be switches have a different pivot position as seen here. The one of the left is the blank and the one on the right is a stock switch.

With the push buttons I used, I needed to add some filler pieces. To get to a total of 8mm, I just glued to pieces I cut from a cable tie.

These are the empty hoops where I Hot Glued the push buttons in place.

Hot glue is your friend.

I'll see if I can get a video online when I have a finished product. I plan on using an Arduino to do the transition from momentary push button to push on / push off and to a relay.

I've been swamped with work so I will post again when I make more progress.

Edit: Sry I dont know how to get the pictures in the body of the thread.
