I'm getting ready to purchase the Pioneer NEX4100 and the shop was trying to talk me into the Kicker 40KXM800.5 5-Channel amp but it sure seems like overkill to me.

I don't play my music very loud and the subwoofer I'm considering is only a single 10". I did change out all the stock speakers to Kicker KS Series but I'm wondering if I can get away with something like the 600 watt Kicker-12CX6005-5-Channel-Amplifier?

Any help will be greatly appreciated?

The Kicker 40KXM800.5 is a marine grade amp. The shop probably figures you need that since it's going into a Jeep.

The Kicker 12CX600.5 will suit you just fine.

Thanks so much Dave.

He did mention that the 40KXM800.5 was smaller at 12-3/4" X 2-1/8" X 8-5/16", but the 12CX600.5 will work for me but I'm not sure where he'll install it since it is a bit larger at at 17.5" x 9" x 4". Where would they typically install a box of this size?

I just installed this head unit with an Alpine pdx-v9 amp. This amp is rated at 100x4 and 500x1 for the subwoofer. It will go louder than I'll ever need or want, I put an 8" Alpine sub in the stock enclosure and it sounds great.

Regarding amp placement I picked up a mount off eBay that goes under the passenger seat for the amp but the alpine amp is a lot smaller than the one you're looking at.
