You should be able to route the belt based on the ridges. If a pulley has ridges on it, it touches the ridges of the belt. I drew out a diagram when replacing my alternator and didn't even need it. As for the tension, was the spring loaded tensioner removed or does it look like it came factory? My 1993 MPI 2.5L has one. Not sure what your year/engine is.

The belt on my 95 YJ 2.5 is adjusted with the power steering bracket.
