I have had my '87 YJ for about 3.5 years now. The soft top that came on it was wore out/ stretched and does not stay fastened when going down the road. What Soft tops do ya'll run and recommend? Framed or Frameless, Pros and cons?
for frameless you will have to swap to a newer roll cage, the people that have them seem to love them.
if you still have the 87 soft top frame it isn't the same as the 88 and up. 1st problem is the door uppers, the 87 fastens to the door with snaps, the newer top uses a belt rail. you can just put the belt rail on your doors.
2nd problem is where the side window attaches to the door surround, the 87 has a channel, the 88 and up has a belt rail. haven't found a fix for this one, I just leave mine loose but I live in fla. so the draft doesn't bother me.
best way to fix both problems is just buy a newer soft top frame but thats expensive.
