Well, maybe not quite. Let me explain, I have been lurking in these forums for a few months now, just learning as much as I can from all of you. I have found this forum to be an excellent resource for all things related to my favorite new toy. That is why when I had to decide between having my new 4" lift professionally installed or doing it myself I first read everything I could find about the process right here. I looked at nearly every thread for the past 6 months that had anything to do with installing lifts, and what I took away from that was that as long as you had the right parts, the right tools, a good workspace and some knowledgeable help it should be no problem to accomplish the lift in one day, a weekend at most. And honestly, it probably would go that way in a perfect world. But the god known as "Murphy" had a few things to say about that, as I'm sure anyone who has ever made a plan that involved the words "what could go wrong" could attest to. So now my Jeep is sitting in the Hickam Air Force Auto Skills Center (where I was doing the work) after I was kicked out at closing on 5pm Sunday, and it doesn't open again until noon on Wednesday. So, including the hourly rental of the garage bay, the overnight storage charges, replacing the pitman arm puller we broke (do NOT ask), and a 3 day rental car I'm beginning to think it might have been cheaper just to pay the labor to have someone else do it. On the other hand, this past weekend has been the most fun I've had in a long time, and I have a much better understanding of how my entire Jeep works. And of course, once I do get it finished I'm going to have to add new fender flares to keep within the legal limits here, and a new spare tire rack (or at least a brake light extender mount), the brake lines are looking a little tight so I should probably extend those, I noticed how unprotected a few things looked under there too, so I may need a few more skid plates, and as long as I'm replacing the flares I may as well get some rocker panels to go with them........
Anyway, sorry to ramble on, and if this should be in a different forum I apoligize in advance.
