So the jeep is going back to the dealer again for leaking front doors.
2015 JKUWW. First time in at 1200 miles with puddles of water on both front floor pans, dealer had Leak specialist look at it and replaced door seels. Second time was at 3500 same issue same repair and now for strike three at 6500 it's going in tomorow. Anyone else have this issue and if they did was the dealer able to correct it?

Thanks for the info. I think mine is going to end up the same as his since I have hard doors already and they still leak. As soon as the "new" seels compress after a few weeks the doors leak again. Wouldn't mind if it was a drop or too but the inch of water is a bit much.

I got a small leak on driver side last night during pouring rain. I thought I had an issue, last time it rained I got in and had a small pool of water on the slush mats. I though it was from when I opened the door but waited for next shower to see. I videotaped it and will be taking it in Friday. don't even have 1300 miles on it. Its pretty small but hopefully a new seal will fix it.

I thought the same with mine at first, unfortunately it's not from opening the door. Mine started leaking at 1200 miles. This time they resealed the header seal on the drivers said and said it was fixed.... Well needless to say after the snow started melting off it, I will be calling the dealer Monday to bring it back cause yet again it's leaking.

It is the mucket seal that is on the body, right where the windshield frame, tub, and door seal intersect. The seal is not on the door. You will notice that it is attached to the tub with one of those little circular push pin plastic fasteners.

Well this mucket seal is horribly designed. Replacing it will not fix the problem because it is just a bad design. You will notice that the design of the seal around the plastic fastener is not smooth. The door seal does not close around this bump in the mucket seal very well (and there is lots of room for failure here as the tolerances on the panels between the windshield, tub, and doors are far from exact and vary greatly from Jeep to Jeep).

Water follows one of the channels down the door seal from the top of the door, and makes its way around the backside of this "bump" in the mucket seal.

I chased this for 9 months on my '14 as it leaked like this from the start. The dealers are clueless about this one as it is not in the leak bible pdf.

How I eventually fixed it was to buy a roll of weatherstripping from Napa that is used for creating a weather seal between truck shells and the truck bed. They usually have this stuff out on their retail floor, you don't even have to ask them to go get it. It is good stuff and has not deformed or fallen off on me.

I just took a section of the weatherstrip the size of the mucket seal, and stuck in on the mucket seal making especially sure that it went over the "bump" and wrapped around towards the inside.

Voila. No more leak.

Wow thanks for the info!!! I thought I was going crazy ever time I argue with the dealer and describe the water leak like you just did and they look at me like I'm nuts.... Going to napa tomorow to give it a shot since rain is in forecast for Monday.

Here you guys go.

You will recognize this area of your door instantly I'm sure. You will see above the mucket seal is my first try at a fix, but the door seal just smushes this weatherstrip out of the way as the seal is nice and tight there. When it warms up in the spring I will probably remove this one and clean it up as it did not fix anything.

My next try was to place the piece of weatherstrip directly over the mucket seal as you can see in the photo. As you can see, I made sure it covered the "button" and wrapped around the "hump". You can see from the weatherstrip that very quickly the door seal created a nice seal around this problem area. The part in contact with the door seal is pressed nearly flat against the mucket seal, while around the "button" and the "hump" it has puffed out nicely, filling in the gaps. You can even sort of see where the "button" for the plastic fastener is showing through a bit. The water travelled right around this area for me, but the weatherstrip stops it cold. This was the weatherstrip that fixed my leak.

This weatherstrip has stayed exactly in place for a great long while as well, which means the door seal does not have a tight enough seal here to smush the weatherstrip out of the way. It just stays put and the Napa weatherstrip is good quality to stick for a long time, even directly on top of the mucket seal. Even if it comes off once a year, it's such an easy and cheap fix I won't mind replacing it.

Even if this doesn't work for you, my advice is to just start methodically weatherstripping potential problem areas yourself. You will eventually find the source of the leak and can then work on a long term fix. I had even taken the door seals completely off--there are a couple of areas in the door seal on the backside of it where you can stuff more weatherstripping inside the seal (with the help of dish soap as a lube) to fatten up your door seal in this area.

Don't waste time trying to get the dealer to do this for you. They will only do what Chrysler suggests they do, and won't experiment like this. Just get out the weatherstripping and watch your stress and rage levels dissipate as you solve your leak with ease... :)

Buy back offered today due to the same leak

Sorry if you read this before as I have posted it in a couple of threads but if it can help others with the leak then thats a good thing...right?

stats:

2014 Willys Unlimited (copperhead)
5xxx miles
premium soft top
bought in May (cash)

It had a leak (comes in down the door jam and spills in on the inside of the rocker
and ends up on the floors (front). The dealership ran though the usual Dr. Leak fix it remedy... no good.

I took the soft top off for the summer and use a trail cover at night. Fast forward to Oct. and after installing the Soft top for the winter my little leak was still there.

I brought it in again and 50 days later, thats right 50 days and still leaking. I called Chrysler a couple of weeks ago and I offered a compromise. I asked that they send me a hard top and I would walk away from the leak issue. I received a call from a 3rd party company stating they have approved a 100% buy back.

Great news? Not really. I can essentially have a new 2015 all options the same at no cost to me except no Copperhead. Now it's just a color some may say but I love it. Not to mention all the little add ons and extras I have match or compliment the color. Also they were so quick to offer the buy back it makes me think something is askew. I mentioned compensation for the 50 days lost and got tumbleweeds. I just don't know what to do.

I'm sure it's a long shot to find anyone with a similar circumstance but it's worth a shot.

Wow..a small amount of water is understandable...maybe...but I left mine out in rain last night (Usually stays in garage) and had to pull carpet an remove drain plugs...we are talking gallons, not drops...time to go to shop....$30k+, you would think that it would stay dry!

Mine has only leaked a few times with no more that a few ounces in the slush mats after a hard rain. The strange part is I have done nothing to fix the issue and now it does not seam to leak anymore. I thought maybe when I first got the jeep I was not putting the soft top back on just right, but I have not changed how I do that either.

I'd been dealing with this leak for 4 or 5 months and Chrysler finally gave up and took my '14 back. I got to pick out a new '15 for an even swap. They even paid me for all the extras I put on the '14.
The only difference between the two is the color. I have up my beautiful Copperhead but have landed in an awesome Tank. I think they have changed something on the door panels (maybe the window crank) as the 15 gives me another nick or so in width. The sound is also much improved.

I have a '15 Freedom Edition and have the leak only on the passenger side. Been that way since we drove it off the lot 1000 miles ago with only 8 miles on it.

When it rains, it puddles up horribly. I havent been able to find any wet spot sources to trace a leak but this mucket seal thing sounds legit. I will check when I get home and see what the difference is on the driver and passenger doors. Not looking forward to the run around with the dealership but need to do something.....

Scout,
If you cannot find a visible water path but your right side gets really soaked check the heater box. Pull out the glove box by pushing in on the sides and pulling it forward. Turn your key to run without starting and make sure the blower is turned off. That should open the blower door so you can see inside. Get a flashlight and look inside if you see water it is one of two things. Most likely a large amount of water is from a faulty gasket on the "top hat"allowing water to come in from the cowl where the heater draws air. It can also be a mastic patch on the top of the cowl under the hood. This patch is right above that top hat and sometimes they peel back. If you can recreate the leak and take pics if you find the water path I'll try to help you out.

Not sure if it will help anyone or not, but my '15 JKU had a LEAK! Not just water coming through but big enough for air to squeeze through and make a horrible whistle. Replaced door seal under warranty, no change. Took a closer look with the local collision center guys that do all warranty work and the brand new seal even wasn't making contact with the door jamb. After a few attempts at engineering a solution, we went old school: roll window down to protect glass, place something in between the bottom of open door and door sill, apply human force in small increased amounts to literally bend the upper door frame in to create the contact needed to let the seals do their thing. 3 months later and no whistle or water leaks. Just think how heavy those front doors are before you freak out, it's steel after all. It'll bend fine just don't overdo it.

I've recently noticed what appears to be a small leak on the driver's side front door of my 2015 JKUR. The leak appears to be at the top of the door near the A-pillar and the water runs down inside the plastic covering on the pillar down to the carpet. Sometimes, some water leaks out at the joint in the plastic A-pillar covers, that's how I first noticed it.

I have been traveling for work so I haven't had time to take it in yet, but will probably try to get it to the dealer next week.

Might be your windshield header seal. Sometimes it can also be the seals on the door frame up in that corner, double check that none of them are folded over or out of alignment.

The leak as described is one that the dealers are pretty familiar with and can fix in a day. I had the same issue on both sides and it was quickly fixed. It is one of the leaks that is known by Chrysler and as such is part of their leak TSBs.
