What you did was extremely dangerous. The bumper will hold, the cable will not, at which point it becomes a dangerous weapon.

Besides what Daggo tells you--never touch the brakes when you're being winched, at least, not till you're done !!-

The ECU controls the hydraulics and as soon as you "TOUCH" the brake pedal--BAM-- the computer takes over and youis stopped, you can't just lightly apply the brakes !!

--google some winch techniques, lots to learn before you just hookup and push button-

I have the same bumper and a Warn 9.5 low profile winch w/steel cable on my 10 Rubi 2dr. with absolutely no problems. The problems come into play if you apply the brakes. The line could snap which would definately ruin your whole day and year for that matter.
