i might be doing a front speaker job on my 93 in the next couple days.

i plan to try this 4x6 and hope it will fit.

Hey plac let me know how you make out. My jeep came with speakers but no head unit so i have to get one and a set of speakers i cant see it being that hard.

 

Unless you are a contortionist with teeny tiny hands....you're in for big fun!:banghead: Accessing the dash speakers is no fun.

 

there is a thread a few weeks back with step by step proceedures for speaker replacement. i tried it once. i wear a size 13 ring. almost impossible. go to: www.carstereohelp.com for full instructions.

 

do you have to remove the windshield holding brackets to get the front speakers out? i tried to unscrew one of the bolts and i heard a familiar rusty cracking/squeeking sound and that usually means something is about to snap so i'm not touching it anymore

 

Yes you do you have to fold down the whole windshield frame and dont worry mine made that sound too ust hope foer the best and apply plenty of lubricant while putting them back in

 

updating my build thread now, speakers installed.

No, you shouldnt. Its not fun. A good solid 2 hours taking your time.

 

just an update after listening to these speakers for a couple weeks.

i would unhook the 4x6 speakers and not even use them. most of them time i cant even hear them. all i can hear are the 2 4" speakers in my sound bar. I have a decent aftermarket deck with like 20-22Wrms a speaker also. It was not worth the job of dash removal for these 4x6" speakers. Additionally, these are Infinity plates at 2.5 ohm, so they should be even louder than a normal speaker. They are def not.
