Skid plate removal

I thought i saw a thread on this at one time but, can't seem to find it.

Any suggestions on removing the bolts (and eventually the skid plate from my tj? I can't get any one of the 6 bolts to budge. I sprayed them down twice with rust buster. I don't have air tools. I bent a cheat bar trying to loosen them.
I have heard that even when and if you get the bolts off, that the plates are usually rust welded to the frame.
looking for some experience on this.

Mine came off just fine with some PB Blast and an electric impact gun.

Then go to black magic brakes and buy new nutserts.

Order new nutserts BEFORE you cut the old ones off.

Heat the bolt first, use a propane torch or something hotter if you have it.
Impact should help as well, but def heat first. Best chance at not spinning out the nutserts.

I got the bolts off with PB and an impact wrench.
The tranny was bolted to the plate. after removing the plate it sagged a little. should i start it up and back into garage or push it in once i have the bottom treated. Day or two before plate goes back on.

You needed to have the engine/transmission supported before removing the plate. When I replaced my mount, I supported it with a piece of wood on the jack under the oil pan.

the engine didn't move. I actually had a board under the plate and lowered it slowly. not much movement.
My question is, should i push it back in neutral with the plate missing. I will let it dry in the garage

You can roll it into the garage without the skid plate. Heck, I've seen people drive without them - but that's not reasonable at all. But I'd use a strap over the frame rails and under the t-case/tranny to hold it until the skid plate is back in place.

I would recommend not moving it at all until you re-install the skid.

This is an add on.
I have been driving for a few weeks now. up under there today to finish undercoat. I have a leak in the transfer case.
If one was guessing, is this a result of dropping the plate with out supporting the tranny?
If so what is the logical leak point?
