My 92 YJ has the maintenance required light on. I'm looking for where the emissions Maintenance timer is supposed to be located in order to disconnect it. From another thread, I've seen a picture of it, but it does not appear to be in the same location on my YJ(See my picture). Is there another location that it could be mounted? Like further up under the dash? The previous owner had a ham radio installed in the jeep, so maybe he moved it. If so, where to?

Welcome to the Forum @crrinwy

Mine was gone prior to my owning my old heap. Do you have any way to reach the PO?

Good Luck, L.M.

Welcome to the forum.

Early YJ's we just unplug and throw away to reset. No longer available.

91and up. IF It is still installed.

1991 and later YJs: The timer is resettable. To reset the light, you can use the following sequence:

Turn the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine.

Quickly press and release the gas pedal three times.

This should cycle the maintenance light, indicating it has been reset.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I looked at the circuit in the maintanance manual. I followed one side of the bulb through the ignition switch and then to 12 volts. The otherside goes through the instrument cluster maintenance req light and then to the Engine Control Module. Reseting the ECM seems logical.
I tried turning the ignition on and cycling the gas pedal 3 times. It did not reset/turn off the maintenance required light. I actually tried it several times.

Any other suggestions? I could replace the O2 sensor and then retry the procedure, but would like to know if that is really the problem before replacing the O2 sensor.
