Dealership says the PCV only needs to be checked for leaks and replaced only if leaking. And, they claim that the never leak...

Do these need replaced at 100,000 miles???

The maintenance schedule in your owner's manual say to check and replace the PCV valve at 100,000 miles, if necessary.
Well, I am at 100,000. So, how do I check it? I know on my old rigs you remove the PCV and shake it...if it rattles it is fine.

Check to see if its gummed up and clogged. If not it's fine. Also it you see oil in your intake you might have a bigger issue. PCv = positive crankcase ventilation meaning it should act as a check valve allowing pressure in the engine to vent into the intake. It absolutely should not allow the intake to vent into the crank case!!
How do I check if it is gummed up?

And, not sure on the newer engines; but, on the older engines, air is pulled from the crank case into the intake.

Not sure what they mean by "check" in check and/or replace... if you're going to pull it off and look at it why not just put a new one on.

If I have to remove it to check then I will just replace it.
