I wanted to start a thread because i will be attempting the repair tomorrow.

I have been having my check engine light come on for about 5k miles now with the code p0304 cylinder 4 misfire, the engine is running perfectly fine no hesitation, good acceleration, idles at 680 like it should, rpm needle dosnt bounce at all...so i have been clearing the code and this would make it the 3rd time cleared. The check engine like comes on when i idle for a long time after the engine is at operating temperature. After connecting a snap on scanner to the obd2 port and watching the cylinder misfire detection mode, the jeep has no misfire when cold or even when driving before operating temp. After operating temp is achieved and at idle i noticed the misfire getting worse and worse. My jeep has 44k miles. So i will be starting my repair by taking off the air intake manifold to gain access to cylinder 4 on the driver side, and replacing the coil and spark plug and possibly moving the #4 injector to a different cylinder to see if the misfire moves. I have been doing a bit of research on the possible causes of this misfire. bad cylinder head, low compression, rocker or roller or even faulty lifter. Also, which i thought was pretty interesting, on the scantool injector #4 had a pulse width around 2900 compared to 2500 on all other cylinders.

I hope you found this thread helpfull and if you can relay any information or would like to stay posted let me know, that would be awesome 👍💪

Update:
Took off the intake manifold and turned it on its side with one hose still connected just to gain access to the coils. After taking out #4 cylinder spark plug i noticed a glaze of oil on the threads, so i took out all 3 and they all have the same glaze. I then noticed the throttle body had oil spilling out of it. Check out the pictures.

So what does this mean? Perhaps excessive blowby? Or just normal 44k buildup of blowby? Not sure but I'll be putting it back together here shortly and see how she runs.

Another update:
Hooked up the scan tool and its still showing misfire on cylinder 4.... Im going to swap around injectors.... Then if it still has misfire.. Im going to clean throttle body... Maybe I'll leakdown test cyl 4 while im in there...but i dont have a leakdown tester soo... Im thinking either cyl 4 intake is getting not enough air... Because of oil build up.. Idk.. But we will get to the bottom of this! Stay tuned!

I had the same code on cylinder #1. I took it to the shop because I'm just not equipped to deal with that level of repair. I really thought a tune-up was in order at 92,000 miles. Plugs... maybe an injector. It turned out to be a frozen rocker bearing.

I paid over $2000 to get it fixed. Someone here pointed out that I was still within my power train warranty. I contacted Jeep and got most of it back. At 114,000 miles now and it still runs great.

No. Not at all. I would clear the code and it would stay gone for a week...a month...but sometimes it would come back in a matter of 10 minutes. I could never feel roughness in the engine...at any rpm. It would make sense though that misfires would occur more at high RPM because of the speed and precision the valves need to seat themselves.

I really thought the code was bogus for a while, but it started to happen too often to ignore. They ended up replacing the rocker and the valve on that cylinder if I recall. That must have been it though. Other than a "low coolant temp" code sometime later that I fixed with a new thermostat, I haven't had any codes since.

Dang i guess i am chasing the same thing then, next time i take the intake off I'll be taking off the valve cover and inspecting the rocker. I believe all i have to do is loosen the camshaft caps and lift up on the cam just a bit and the rocker slides out and in with the new one... For the valve the head probably comes off..which no thanks..but for the lifter im not sure if that pulls out or not. Guess we'll see!

Welp this should be the final update:

Hooked up the scantool today and it showed cylinder 2 misfiring now! ( after the injector swap cyl 4 to cyl2) so i went ahead and picked up an injector and 2 more sparkplugs totalled 101$

I believe this should be the fix!
Trust you are correct and can enjoy your JEEP.. LUK.

Welcome to the Forum @McC1994

Your T&C is too new for me to know anything about, but a member with a newer Jeep may be able to help you.

Good Luck, L.M.
