This is my first forum ever. I created this in hopes of helping other know what they could be getting into before purchasing and also hopefully figuring out my issues and helping others that have or will have the same issues.
I installed a Magnuson supercharger kit on my 21 Gladiator a little over a month ago and lets start by saying it runs great with lots of power. The parts are made of very good quality and the instructions are almost perfect. But I have a surging issue under load, sometimes the jeep does not want to shift up even though you are on flat ground and not pushing the throttle any harder you have to completely let off the gas for it to shift, driving straight down the highway the stability control lights come on and disable stability control. Not turning/accelerating/decelerating/or hitting a bump literally just driving straight. Sometimes when you come to a stop and the jeep shuts off it will try to start itself back and fail to do so and you find yourself stuck in the middle of the road having to put it back in park and ignition off and back on to start it back up and go. Jeep only has 14k miles on it and had absolutely no issues before the install. I spoke with Magnuson and expressed my concern and disappointment for over a week and they just do not care to help. The customer service is very very poor. I understand things can just happen with bad timing and if I find that to be the case with any of these issues I will edit. If I figure any of this out I will post again and if anybody has any information that would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Magnuson in my JT. Installed by Vivid Racing in Phoenix. Initial tune good. Inquired about an updated Magnuson tune and Vivid Racing installed it. Very happy with the supercharger and the tune.

I followed the advice of the guy in the first comment and went over to talk to Dave. He has been very helpful but I have not finished doing the last thing he asked me to do mostly just from getting busy and having multiple cars to drive. But since you are interested I will make sure I do what he recommended tomorrow and follow up with him and if anything is figured out I will comment back her asap.

1) Dave had me go in my VCM scanner software (beta). If you dont have it I will post the email Magnuson sent me on how to download it. It allows you to data log your vehicle while you drive on your laptop to help diagnose. If you have that and you connect your computer to the Jeep via OBD port and get the program to connect with the vehicle there will be a power button I think it is green and might show up on the main screen at the top. If it is not there it is definitely under the vehicle drop down and says controls and special functions. Once you click that to the very right was something about gear ratio and tire size. I clicked that and saw that mine was set to 31 inch tires. I looked at the tire manufacturer website and saw that my tires were 34.3 inches tall so I typed that in to update it. When you update it here it updates the size in the BCM. I drove the jeep home and did not notice any drivability issues but the traction light did come on one time. It was also a fairly short drive so I will drive more tomorrow and confirm.

2) I have had this supercharger installed for about 3 months now and it does seem to be getting better on its own. It is not perfect but it is more tolerable.

3) One of the first things Magnuson had me do was the data log. This reveled to me that I had a air pocket in the supercharger cooling system because the intake air temperature was around 185 F. Which is way to high causing the vehicle to pull timing and other things. This was Magnuson's recommendation to get the air out of the supercharger cooling system.
We recommend using the evac and fill method to insure that there is no air in the system.
The intercooler pump requires head pressure to run continuously. That means if there is any air in the system the pump will run for 5 seconds and shut off.
  • Remove the yellow trigger wire from the fuse in the fuse box.
  • Remove the cap from the degas bottle
  • Make sure that there is coolant in the bottle. If it is low then fill it up
  • Touch the trigger wire to the positive battery post to trigger the pump. Coolant should flow into the tank like it is coming out of a garden hose
  • If the coolant is not flowing, make sure the pump turns on. It will only run for about 5 seconds
  • If the pump turns on and off, then you will need to trigger the pump multiple times while massaging the hoses until you get the air out of the system.
  • Once the coolant is flowing, hook the trigger wire back up and start the Jeep. Make sure the coolant flows continuously, then shut the Jeep off, make sure the coolant level in the tank is up, then put the cap back on.

4) The other thing that Dave recommended I check was for was this.

I have seen a number of installs, where the lid of the supercharger was not sealed well and it was leaking air. The top part with the bolts and Magnuson label uses RTV to seal it. The extra air can cause torque surge at low RPM. This also can set off the stability control as it is seen as uncommanded throttle.

I hope these things help and If I get any new updates I will post them up. I will likely post something tomorrow or the next day on updates as to how it drives after changing the tire size.

Data Logging
I have attached a channels file to be used for data logging with the RTD.
First, download the VCM Suites program here.
http://files.hptuners.com/VCM Suite/VCM Suite (Beta).msi
Second, save the attached file in the following location:
Documents / HP Tuners / VCM Scanner / and save it in Channel Configs

Create a datalog.
  • Plug the RTD into the computer and make sure that the drivers are working and it identifies the RTD
  • Plug the RTD in to the Diagnostic port under the dash
  • Turn the ignition on, do not start the truck (foot off brake, turn key to run or push the button twice)
  • Open up the VCM scanner program
  • Select the first Icon in the channels window. (folder with a gear in the corner)
  • Select open Config file. It should take you to the folder where you saved the channels file I sent you. Select that file.
  • Now select the 4th Icon in the top row. (front end of car highlighted in blue)
  • The computer will connect to the vehicle. Once the connection is made you can select the 8th Icon which is the yellow engine with a lightning bolt in it. You will be able to check to see what the codes are. Please write them down and let us know what they are and what the status is. (pending, current, permanent)
  • You can also now erase the codes (note: any code that says permanent will not clear yet)
  • Close the diagnostic window and select the 6th Icon (red circle) to begin data logging.
  • Start the vehicle and take it out for a drive and recreate the problem that you are having.
  • When you are ready to stop recording select the 7th Icon (black square)
If you are using an HP Tuners RTD please click the link below for the latest updates.

For the MPVI2 VCM Editor or VCM Scanner please click the link below.

I am unsure how to attach the log channels they sent me because this forum will only post certain types of documents. If you email me at a94stang@yahoo.com I can send you the channels that way. Or if someone can walk me though converting the document to something that is accepted here I will post it for all to have. Right now it is a XML Document. Or I am pretty sure you can still use it without the channels that just assures for them that you have all the data in the same spot every time to make it easier for them to read.

After driving for a couple days now I can confirm that changing the tire size in the BCM using VCM Scanner Data via my laptop that the Vehicle drives almost perfect. The Traction light still comes on every once in awhile at highway driving but it immediately goes off. Before it would come on and stay on. And as far as the turning off at red lights and not cranking back up. I installed a start stop delete to just get ride of it all together.

Hello I have a headache on my hands I have a 2021 JT 3.6 Just supercharged it with a magnuson super charger so in the middle of the year from a JPEG2 TO A JPEG5 ECM.
