I am torn between 305/65/17 and 295/70/17 (285/70/17 in title is a typo, I have that size now ) Getting mastercraft courser MXTs more then likely. Going on my 2011 JKU with a Teraflex leveling kit and MB TKO wheels. Let me know what you guys think.

Neither. 305/70 or 285/75. I LOVE my 285/75 on my 2 door. 4 door, i would get 305/70

Not much difference. Need wheel spacers to move the tires out a bit. Going offroad and flexing will need a bit of a lift.

Have the same type of question, what would look better with a minor lift? 305s, 295, or 285? I don't want too much room between the fender and top of the tire.
I have 285 now with my leveling kit and feel like I want something just a little taller and wider. Probably gonna go with he 295. Afraid 305 would be too tall for any off roading with just the Teraflex level.

You understand that 305 is the WIDTH in millimeters right? It would not be taller if you go down in the aspect ratio, ie from 70 to 65. If you stay the same aspect ratio it's only a ~1/2" of an inch in height added. (305-285=20mm*70%=14mm/25.4=0.55")

yes I know that. But obviously a 305/70 is taller then a 295/70.........

10mm x 0.70 = 7mm / 25.4 = 0.27" / 2 = 0.14" Less distance between the tire and fender <---- Not nearly enough to matter. Your tire height will vary more than this depending on the PSI.

but Im coming from a 285/70 so there is more difference then that in height and width. There is enough difference between 285/70 to 305/70 to more then likely cause some rubbing off road. Which is the initial reason for this post. Was to ask who had experience with the two sizes with a leveling kit and which was a better option. Not trying to split hairs. Not to mention the tires I want don't come in a 305/70. Just 305/65 or 295/70. That's the reason I asked about these two sizes in my original post.

A little late to the party but here's 305/65R17 Dick Cepek Fun Country tires on 17x9 Fuel Beast wheels with 4.5" backspacing utilizing 1.5" Teraflex puck leveling kit. Personally, I like the stout/aggressive stance much more than the 285/70R17's you frequently see on JK's, but to each their own...:iamhappy:

Thanks for the reply. Those look good. I still haven't purchased tires so I appreciate the pic. I actually meant to post 295/70/17 not 285/70/17. I think I have decided to go with the 295/70/17s for the added width and height. I have 285/70 now and puck leveling kit.

Just picked up a set of used 305/65/17 BFG A/T's that I hope to get put on this weekend. Wouldn't normally go used but they had decent tread left and got 5 of them for the about the price of one new tire. Will post pics once I get them on the JK.

Can you provide more pics from different angles? I also love this look and am considering this exact tire size. I have 4.25 backspacing so pretty much close to yours. Thanks.

Here are a few more. I still really like the sizing and will do the exact same tire when they need replaced. About 11,000 miles on them so far and looking like I should get at least 75,000 based on wear. Pulled a pop-up camper with them from Michigan to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons and back last fall and was pleasantly surprised on the overall handling & noise. Good luck with your choice.
