Great information here! I may be following it for a rebuild on my daughters TJ if her shift issues remain after an fluid n filter change (personally I own a CJ7 and JK8 and am a millwright by trade) a quick question since you a proven authority on these transmissions and it's the first time I've pulled out a valve body on one to inspect it... I dropped the pan for the filter change and found an e-clip stuck to the magnet. The one on the park lever is there and so is the one on the drive position selector. The eclip is the same size as both of those. Any ideas where it could have slipped off? Thanks so much for your time!
