32RH leak issue

After changing the transmission filter on my '01 last year, I had a small leak from the transmission. My understanding is from the factory the 32rh comes with an RTV gasket, but mine already had a rubber gasket so someone in the past had been into it already. At this point, though, I'm on my third gasket I've personally changed, twice with the $15 Fel-Pro and now with a LubeLocker and the leak has gotten progressively worse each time. I've read that the pans are easily warped, but I'm not sure how to tell if mine is or how to straighten it if that's the case. I'm tempted to drop the pan again and try to make a RTV gasket myself, but I've never done that and I'm afraid of getting RTV into the tranny and clogging the valve body. I'd sure appreciate any advice you folks can give, I'm on the verge of (gasp) paying someone to rebuild the thing and solve the leak. Original reason for changing the filter was slipped shifts when it was cold (fluid level was good).

I've never seen a 32 with RTV from the factory. They always have had a gasket and I've owned and worked on several. If the factory lube locker style gasket doesn't stop the leak at the pan then you need to check the bolt holes and make sure they aren't dimpled up from over torqueing with the normal rubber gasket. They may need to be flattened back out to use with the hard plastic gasket.

The other issue I see very often is the bolts are really too short for use with the thicker gasket and the threads in the case get stripped out. I fix them with a timesert quite often and that fixes the leak.

I'll drop that sucker again and check for the dimpling you mentioned. I have also had to replace a couple of the bolts for longer ones as they had stripped out like you mentioned. Fortunately they were in locations where the bolt goes all the way through and I could put a nut on the other side to make sure they're torqued.
