Hey all,
I'm new around here and I've got a question maybe some Jeep historians can answer. I'm trying to figure out what were the color variants on 92-95 Saharas. I'm deliberately excluding prior YJ models because it looks like those had different patterns.
I know it was basically two main colors: green metallic or sand beige with the green seats. Then the dash, door panels, center console and recliners could be either cinder (gray) or spice (tan), and the carpeting either dark green or spice.
The decals are a bit more confusing, as I've seen two main variants:
- Jeep/WRANGLER & 4.0 logos in red letters + red/spice stripes, commonly seen in green metallic cars.
- Jeep/WRANGLER & 4.0 logos in spice letters + green/spice stripes, commonly seen in sand beige cars.
Collin Bros currently has a Sahara for sale with a third variant though: Jeep/WRANGLER & 4.0 logos in spice letters + red/spice stripes on a metallic green car. The red/spice stripes are also inverted with red on top. Main difference I noticed on this Jeep is that it comes with the spice interior, but I've also seen other spice models that have the same decals as the gray/green cars.
Not sure about the silver grille but I assume that was a custom preference from whoever ordered it originally?
And now the weirdest one. Last year, a 92 Sahara was up for sale in Spain with completely different colors: interior is gray/green. Exterior however looks like a military style Sage Green in matte finish, with black/spice stripes and lettering. Not to mention what appears to be lighter colored fender flares. Not sure if any of this was modified later but I met the owner and they claim it's unmodified. The car was a US import to Luxembourg and was kept in its original condition, they say. Was 92 a different year? The design doesn't seem to match the 86-91 patterns either.
Anyways. I just figured someone around here might know. I'm considering getting one of these guys and I've been researching them lately. It's all mostly out of curiosity, because if I eventually went for one, I'd like to either keep it as is or restore it to its original design.
