Backup camera lines disappear

Anyone else have the backup camera lines vanish and reappear? Sometimes the backup lines are shown and sometimes they are not. Apparently this is a known FCA issue, and a fix was not known for some time....
Dealership will replace a module next week (will post ID when I get it from them). We shall see..

Thanks. They replaced 'gateway module" today. Will see how it goes. Has been an intermittent problem....

My backup lines continue to disappear intermittently. When I back out of my garage without lines, I know that my audio will be cutting out as well. The two issues are somehow related. I’ve had my Jeep in multiple times for this. Last time they replaced the radio. That was about 2 weeks ago. No problem until today. No lines and audio cutting out. Here we go again.

Early on in my JL experience, I read in a forum or two, to ensure that all the fuses are pushed down and seated firmly. I did this. Some seemed a little loose but I’m not a mechanic and I don’t know if that’s how they are supposed to be. Anyway...I’m not sure if it’s what eliminated the early gremlins that I was experiencing but I thought I’d pass that suggestion along in the hopes it may help someone with this or similar electrical related issues.

Possible fix alert. My Jeep dealer said there’s a technical service bulletin on this. It seems to have worked for my vehicle. The dealer unplugged the backup camera and plugged it back in again. My backup lines have not disappeared since. Nor has the audio cut out, which was almost always the case when my backup lines were missing.

2018 JL Sahara that we have owned for 18 months. We had the 'backup lines disappearing' intermittently at about the 6 months of ownership mark. Happened about 1 out of every 10 startups. Wasn't a huge bother since they came back on at the next restart. We did have the dealership check it out at the 1 year checkup/oil change. They checked for the latest software updates (which they confirmed I already had) and then reset the system. Problem still happens although less frequently. Dealership said that it unfortunately not uncommon. They were willing to pull and replace the camera and related wiring, but couldn't really confirm whether that would fix the issue. Didn't want to go through all that, but may if the issue becomes more persistent or bothersome.

I have a '18 JLU Sport which I swapped out my 7' to the 8.4". My backup lines disappear intermittently as well like yours. No rhyme or reason. I have software ver. 21.10 and radio manufacture date of May 2019. I read somewhere that you should disconnect and reconnect the camera in the tailgate. Haven't tried that yet.

I also installed a Tazer Mini to enable off road pages (ORP). ORP works expect the GPS coordinates do not show on the ORP. It display -- in the GPS fields. Haven't found a fix although they say the software ver 28 which is dealer only install at this time would correct that.

This may sound odd, but I had the same issue, dealer unable to duplicate even though I showed a pic with no lines. I’ve discovered, and it’s annoying, that when I start the engine, it takes a few seconds for the software to load. During that time, the radio controls also don’t work, nor does the AC. I can use the steering wheel controls though for the radio volume. If I left the radio up loud, it stays loud until the software loads. Same with the camera back up lines. If I put it in reverse before the software loads, no lines. Wait until I get a full good screen and the radio knobs work, I have lines. I get into a hurry sometimes, and this is what I discovered and works for me. And the loud radio on startup is very annoying.

I just took my brand new Rubicon to the dealer for this problem and it wasn't working when he backed up. So the service guy got to see it first hand. They called me 4 hours later saying they can't find the problem and it's working now. They tested it about a dozen times and it continued to work. I explained to him that's how it has been working.. Off for a day or two then working for a day or two. He told me to call him if it happens again which I am sure it will. Not happy!!! Let him know that there will be hell to pay if I have to come back for the same problem that they flat out refused to fix.

I just took delivery of my 2021 Jeep Sport S on April 20th. I waited 9 weeks for my custom build. On the 2nd day of ownership the backup lines started disappearing 50 percent of the time. Went to the dealer they said they have never heard of the issue (hard to believe after reading these posts) Left the jeep there would not duplicate. Next week washed my jeep (touchless car wash) and about half a cup of water filled my shifter boots. Went back to dealership for radio and wetness. They found that my t tops handles do not create enough pressure to seal. They said they have to have permission from FCA to replace can take up to 6 weeks and just do not wash the jeep. The radio would not duplicate but i had several time stamp pictures and a video. They said that my video was not valid and the have to see for themselves. The next morning started my jeep and of course no back up lines. Went back to dealership and made them come out (did not turn car off) they were a little grumpy that I insisted, they were able to see that all my settings were correct and sure enough no lines. The service guy took a video and pictures himself and said he would get back to me. They also told me to call Uconnect and maybe I could convince them to update my radio or have them replace it (Little confused on why I have to do this vs the dealer with a 500 mile jeep that is 13 days old) I called Uconnect they laughed and said the dealer should be able to verify the right software and mine was current, they also said a radio replace may solve but they do not handle that. Two days later went in to let them know I called Uconnect and to check progress. They said no word on the t tops leaking and FCA only replaces radios with serious problems. I then calmly said (was hard to do) If you think I just paid 45,000 for a new Jeep and will let these problems persist you are very wrong, I also told them that I expect a game plan on how to fix the backup lines. I told them have you considered the forums and they have said you can check fuses or unplug camera and it might work before replacing the head unit. He said he would check into this and get back to me. This was April 26th of 2021. I will keep all posted on the outcomes. I want to be able to have a way that other Jeep owners can get this resolved. I love my jeep but I should not have to put up with a wet interior and a stereo that all the features do not work. FCA please help if you can I would really appreciate it. Side not a thick business card folded over three times under the driver side handle (the one next to the passenger side by front window) solved the leaking issue for right now, maybe this will help someone else as a temporary fix.
