Something to think about regarding leasing: will you be required to restore the jeep to its original equipment configuration when the lease ends? So removing any lift, keeping original tires and wheels, etc?

What are you planning mods for? Do you want a certain look for the road only (i.e., mall crawler), or are you planning to take the jeep offroad? For offroad, drive it stock first, then think about quick disco, a lift, larger tires, and armor (rock sliders and possibly an oil pan/transmission skid plate). Side steps (vs rock sliders that may or may not be useable as side steps) are usually not the greatest idea for offroading. Installation of the discos is something you can easily do yourself with a couple wrenches regardless of your mechanical abilities.
