Are you talking about shocks that can be adjusted to change the ride firmness? If so, that's just valving inside the shock and will have no affect on the spring life.

 

According to the TIRERACK website...

"... The 5100 Series (Ride Height Adjustable) shocks feature multiple snap-ring grooves on the body of the shock to accommodate different spring seat positions, allowing height adjustments from 0" to 2.5", depending on the application... "

Maybe TIRERACK has it all wrong.

Also 5100 aren't adjustable... I just installed a set this last weekend.

Those are 2 very different adjustments. Ride height adjustment is nothing more than placing the mount point at a different location. Changing the Firmness of the shock would be the other type of adjustment typically consisting of a Valve to vary the pressure inside the shock which the 5100 Series does not do.

Would the different mounting locations already be on the jeep, or would a mounting bracket (with multiple locations) be supplied with the Bilsteins?

 

Your thinking of these which I don't believe will work with a jeep. They are for vehicles with strut designs.
