my seal was leaking on the cam position sensor and tried replacing it, I can get it to snap back in to the valve cover, do I need a special tool, or do I just put it on the sensor and tighten it down all together as one piece.

You can use a large socket that fits inside the seal to get it to seat in the valve cover. It is rather difficult
I just did both gaskets on either side in the last week.. it won't "seat" just by finger pressing it in. I just installed it loose, then tightened the nuts down. It seated with pressure. Don't overtighten. Snug, then just a little more. You'll see it compress.
