When replacing a clutch what all is recommended on changing?
The basic clutch kit is all you will need if there's no damage to the flywheel. If te flywheel is damaged you need to replace it though, not have it resurfaced. The flywheel has a dome shape to it that resurfacing it will take away. When replacing a clutch what all is recommended on changing?
Antisieze? I thought locktite was called for bolting the clutch housing to the flywheel?I just did mine and I changed the throw out bearing, pilot bearing, pressure plate, clutch disc, and had the fly wheel resurfaced also put anitseize on all bolts and input shaft. Also changed the tranny fluid. But that's just me, I'm sure people have other opinions.
I'm replacing mine with a LUK Kit but I'm not sure on which kit to get either the 05-065 or 05-901??? Any suggestions? The basic clutch kit is all you will need if there's no damage to the flywheel. Get the 05-065. There is no benefit for the extra cost of the Gold. Don't know where you're shopping, but I've bought several from partsgeek.com with good success and pretty fast shipping. clutch kit | Partsgeek.com As mentioned above, do not have your flywheel machined. If you don't have clutch shudder now and the flywheel isn't heat checked or warped, just clean it up with some fine emery cloth or sand paper.I'm replacing mine with a LUK Kit but I'm not sure on which kit to get either the 05-065 or 05-901??? Thanks for the response, would you suggest clutch fork or slave cylinder as well??Get the 05-065. There is no benefit for the extra cost of the Gold. One other thing that would be good to get from your local Jeep dealer (I think Morris 4x4 carries them as well) is a clutch return spring. Many times they break when taking them off or are missing completely. <$5 at the dealer. Here's a picture...
No, not unless there is something wrong with yours. Clutch fork failure is very very rare, and the slave and master cylinder are either working or not and can be easily changed without removing the transmission. Thanks for the response, would you suggest clutch fork or slave cylinder as well??
youre gonna need torex head sockets for the top two transmission bolts as well. When replacing a clutch what all is recommended on changing?
Yep, an E-12 torx socket, and a pilot bearing tool. They have pilot bearing bearing pullers for loan at most auto parts stores if you don't have/or want to buy one.youre gonna need torex head sockets for the top two transmission bolts as well.
