Hello all!

First just want to say that I have been stalking this forum for years for help on my Wrangler. Everyone seems to be so helpful, so I am hoping to get some guidance for my first posted question.

Current Rig:
1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ
Straight 6
4.0
Overall the jeep runs great!

Here is the problem; slowly I am having systems fail. First my heater would only work on high. Now the heater will not work at at. Next thing to go out is my radio. Finally, my dome light will no longer come on.

Steps I've taken to fix the problems:

* I've tried replacing the fuse for the heater, but it blows instantly when I turn on the ignition.

* Tore off the dash and tried to trace the heater wires in attempt to find the short and/or grounding issue.

* Finally I took it into a local shop here in Kansas City to try and find the problem. After two weeks, they still could not solve the electrical/heater issue. I'm not surprised by this; the wiring under the dash is a nightmare.

At this point I feel pretty stuck. I've called literally a dozen places here in Kansas City, and all of them practically laugh me off the phone when I ask about about a complete rewire. I have kicked around the idea of doing it myself, although I've never done more than a car radio.

I have also looked at a Painless Wire Harness. Does anyone know if these work for a 1995 Wrangler? I can easily find ones that are for YJ's, but they only list years 87-91 (see link)

I guess my main question is, what would you do? Or what would be your next step?

Let me know if you need anymore information. Thanks for any help you all can send my way

The first thing I would check for the heater wiring, would be the resistor. Its mounted in the heater box over on the passenger side. Has a 3-prong plug going into it, held in by 2- 8mm head bolts.

If that is in good shape, then I would go for the wire that comes out of it to the fan motor.

Radio is hard to say. moisture plays hell on electronics.

The dome light is which? hard top? Assuming bulb is good, check the electrical connection on the back driverside corner. If that isn't it, then I would shoot for a bad door switch, or the headlight switch needs replaced. That wheel gets corroded over time and doesn't get a good contact. It can be taken apart and cleaned, but its a tedious job.

Dome light works by the switch (door or dash) giving the light ground.
