Sounds like you're further along on this than anyone else. If you can't defeat it by futzing with a spare ignition switch, sounds like a ones-and-zeros problem, and therefore way out of my league.

One thing i could do id perhaps pull a wire out of the connector:

Pin 1 Key Sense Return
Pin 2 Key sense

But I have a feeling pulling the key sense (purple wire) could cause issues, but worth a test...

 

I can chime in here...no pun intended.

When I bought my Jeep, the purple wire was broken at the connector.

I didn't have the "door open" or "key in ignition" chimes, but I also didn't have a dome light with door open, the radio didn't shut off when I opened the door, and I had no "you left your lights on, you idiot" alarm.

I ended up soldering the wire back to the harness and I deal with the "door open" chime.

What happen when the doors is off, does the chime still work?

 

door off = sensor unplugged... but also no dome lights... i am half way tempted to unplug the doors and just use the switches manually...

Oh, yeah, I guess if you read that thread to Post #7 you'd see it's not about using the chimebuster, but how to pull the dash cluster out and disable the actual buzzer.

You know what that means? You still did not read THIS thread. So before you bust on someone trying to say they are not being helpful, how about you do your due diligence and READ THE ORIGINAL POST TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING TO ACCOMPLISH!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to pull the dash, remove the buzzer and then see what happens. The post for removing the buzzer is old, the person that posted it is no longer on that forum so there really isn't any information about what sounds are or are not produced.

 

what year is your jeep. mines a 2016 i believe beep comes from the sound bar drivers side tweeter. when i replace my speakers i notice that that one has its own source from the woofer pass side woofer and tweeter shared the wire. i haven't heard the beep since because i never connected that one.

 

So this is just slightly different that what was described in the JK-Forum. This is from my 2014.

U-shaped plastic trim under steering wheel column snaps off from top edge closest to steering wheel column and is hinged at bottom. Once that is pulled off you can see the two (one per side) 7-mm head screws on each side of the steering wheel column. These need to be removed to remove the large trim piece that surrounds the dash cluster, radio, window controls, etc.

Additionally, there is one 7-mm head screw under the protective liner of the dash cubby and one behind the windows controller in the center of the dash.

Once you've removed those 4 screws the larger dash trim is just held in with clips and pulls straight off.

There are four 7-mm screws holding the dash cluster in place that need to be removed. There are three electrical plug connections at the top rear of the dash cluster that need to be pulled.

Once the dash cluster in out, the white plastic tabs around the edge and two tabs near the center need to be released. This is much easier when it is all warm and with two sets of hands.

The buzzer is in the same location as shown in the JK-Forum post but on mine it was somewhat glued in place and had two soldered connections. I slightly twisted and pulled and it broke off rather easily.

Re-assembly reverse of steps.

Total of eight screws that need to be removed. Very simple and took less than 30 minutes.

Results:
No Key in Ignition alarm sound
No Door or Tailgate Ajar alarm sound
No Headlights On alarm sound
Turn signals still make audible clicking sound.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery prior to doing any of this work. I took the photos during the re-assembly.

never mind about my post. heard the chime today. got so used to it i just drown it out.

Addition to above:

No Fasten Seatbelt alarm. Dash light still flashes, just no corresponding noise.

 

Glad to hear that the turn signal clicker still works, guess there is another speaker elsewhere... i MAY go this route, drove an older car and the bliss of turning it on and no blinky lights, no nagging buzzers...

 

Thought...For TJs, to avoid having to pull a fuse every time you take your doors off one would install a switch to flip and turn off the dome light (this is what I had on my old TJ).

Why not just put a switch in?

I'm sorry if I missed this but why do you want to remove the key in chime? I may be missing something but I do not understand why this is an issue. If you want to have the doors open with the key in the ignition, turn the key to the on position without actually starting the vehicle and the chime will ding 3 or 4 times and then not chime again until you remove the key or put it back to the acc position.

As for those who are annoyed with the seatbelt chime, there are a number of posts on this site that have the 4 step process to disable the BeltAlert system on most FCA vehicles.

Well i performed the chime speakerectomy... I dont miss it... also removed rear head rests, replaced headunit with factory non touchscreen radio, still have sirius and Uconnect, but removed the Uconnect buttons on radio and sterring wheel (stock parts) ... i think i removed all annoyances, oh also removed warning labels from visors and soft top ... i feel like i am driving a jeep now, not a minivan ...Next mission is LEDs (without resistors)
