Drop Down Tailgate Conversion

Time for me to replace the swing gate hinges. Started pricing OE and aftermarket hinges and not really liking what I see, so I opted for a drop gate conversion kit from Swag. It was between them and Poison Spyder... both look excellent. Swag was less expensive so I went that way.
Drop down suits me better. Has a capacity of 400 lbs so Bubba can sit there during breaktime.
It should be here next week, I'll let ya's know how it goes.
Anyone else made the conversion?

Not an issue, did that years ago. I have an aftermarket bumper with tire carrier, won't interfere.

Quick follow-up on this. I installed the Swag conversion and have been using it for a little over a week so a little scratched up and dirty... or broken in :D. Absolutely love it. Strong as hell. Firm and tight closure. No rattling. Closes first time, every time.

I don't mind saying that it took the better part of an afternoon to install it. The instructions definitely have some glitches but easy enough to figure out. The hardware and fasteners are very good quality. Comes as bare aluminum and recommended to paint, which I did, using a self-etching primer and rattle can bedliner.

Install went really well and needed no adjustments on the first try... go figure. I also added a padded BedTred (mfg by BedRug under $40) to the inside of the tailgate.

I'm a very happy camper. :) Do I like sitting on my tail and blasting some honky-tonk? Oh hells ya!
