So after a few good days of mudding, I came to find my entire engine bay is covered in a blanket of mud. Other than covering the air intake, are there any other precautions I should take when power washing it?

don't get too carried away around anything electrical.
with High pressure you can force water in there...which isn't a good place for water to be, but as long as you keep a moderate distance with the nozzle you should be fine. Some say stay off the alternator, but I've never had an issue...again keep a decent distance w/ the nozzle.
note- if it doesn't start afterwards its not my fault

that and the only thing to watch for is just dont spray at the alternator directly, i mean a quick pass by no prob, but dont hold it, cause worst case is water gets shot into the wires, might not be so good, but ull be fine

Ditto on the Simple Green brand degreaser first.
Cover the air intake with a plastic baggie, then spray most everything with Simple Green, then use a garden hose.
I have done this many times with a regular garden hose with nozzle with no problems. Just keep the nozzle a few feet away while spraying. Disconnect the under hood light first, and leave disconnected for a day or two while it dries out.
As soon as you are done spraying, start the engine and drive for a few miles to help dry things out.

Yea another thing to be careful with is the computer.
Just stay clear of it completely.

The computer is inside the cab of jeep, right in front of center console.
But yea be careful when washing out the inside of the jeep.

Ok then what is the small metal box against the firewall? Ya know the one with all the wires plugged into it. Silver box.

Hmm not sure, I dont have the TJ here to go look real quick. I know the computer is inside, but the box your talking about could have something to do with it too maybe.

What inside the cab on top of the trans tunnel is the airbag control module. The PCM is bolted to the firewall behind the battery.

IMO...I would NOT use high-pressure water to clean out the engine bay. That's just asking for problems since those things are highly capable of forcing water in places it wasn't designed to go.
I agree with the above...use a high quality degreaser and then use a low pressure GARDEN HOSE to rinse.
