I see the trail cam option on build & price for a 2023 JLU Rubi XR. None of the dealer inventory Jeeps I look at online from multiple dealers have it. What gives?

Looking like I will need to order my Jeep to get the TC. I will of course discuss with my dealer but I often find there are individuals on automotive forums who are better informed than random sales folks. This will be my first Jeep vehicle and I don't know who the go-to Wrangler sales person is at the dealership.

Hello to everyone. My first post on this forum. I am near Augusta GA.

Welcome to WF.. Good members with much knowledge and experience and willing to give opinions. At the dealership, ask the sales mgr who sells the most Wranglers and who is a Certified Sales Professional by FCA; this indicates they have completed many product training sessions. State Forums are here too; Georgia Jeep Forum
Check for Jeep Clubs and local Jeep Accessory stores; they might connect you to a local Club where you can gather information. Post up your decision.

Welcome to the forum.

What exactly is your question?

If you find a JL on a dealer lot you like but is missing the forward camera, you can add an aftermarket camera for under $180. You will also need a Tazer programmer ($329) to activate the functionality.

Will this give the steering lines for the camera too?

PS - nine times out of ten the Jeep salesman will know nothing and chances are will make up stuff. I WOULD NOT rely on a salesman as a reliable source of information.

The only time a salesperson will be able to provide any type of truthful information is after you have given them your factory order parameters and they enter them into the dealer ordering system. At that point, and only at that point they will be able to tell you anything concrete. Any other time is simply speculation from their part and a big waste of time.

^ this... @aldo90731 speaks the truth. Most, nearly all salesman know very little about the actual vehicles they sell. They need to sell anything from a minivan to a RAM to a Jeep and most know it has 4 tires and will read the specs off a sheet barely know what any of it means. Anyone who does their research beforehand will be able to run circles around a salesman with specific knowledge of their vehicle of choice. The best way to go into a dealership is having already done all your research and know exactly what you want or will consider buying. Don't let a salesman talk you into anything without doing your research.

Durn auto correcting spell check! I typed WF (wrangler forum).

Here is an update: went to local dealer and he had a Rubi with the "integrated off road camera." Did not see it on their website. Did a test drive. Not bad! This one was a loaded extreme recon. Had some things I don't want to pay for like body colored top and half doors. Not a color i prefer either but otherwise close to the build I want. So, asked him to quote an ordered JLU XR in my exact spec.

The resulting offer was about $2k below MSRP. And he wants $2k non refundable earnest money. Not as good as what others in this forum are getting. So planning to ask other dealers to quote.

I always have purchased from the dealer lot. This time I want exactly what I want. Or very close to it.....

I can understand that, but that is a challenge in SoCal because so many seem to not bother with negotiating on a purchase price (or so it seems based on asking prices at times).
The Rubicon is the dominant trim package here, even though many will never see dirt. I myself bought a Rubicon as I wanted a capable vehicle when I did hit trails and it has surpassed my expectations.
