Gorilla Glass Warranty

Anyone have to deal with this warranty? I just picked up my 2022 Jeep on Friday. Low and behold a pebble flew up on the highway and hit the windshield. Immediate 7" crack! Since it was late I haven't been able to get ahold of my dealership yet. But when upgrading to Gorilla Glass the warranty says they will fix or replace anything over the size of a quarter but under 3". Really hoping that since this happened so soon after picking up the Jeep that they will cover it.

I called Safelite and they can't even get the gorilla glass replacements. Just Jeep OEM and not even the one with the Willys easter egg in the corner. It would be the standard Jeep in the corner. Lame.

It'll be interesting to see how Jeep handles this. If the original crack was under 3" and it grew because you couldn't get into the dealership, you might have a case.

Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck, L.M.

While I like the premise of the Gorilla Glass, what I have heard as far as warranty coverage has not been so good. It seems they are not found of actually covering damage to the glass under their warranty. I would not spend any extra to get the Gorilla Glass. I would not turn it down, but I would not put much effort and no money into getting it.
Welcome to Jeeps, They catch a lot of rocks with their windshields. It happens. Not sure it is a warranty issue either way. But maybe for the sake of goodwill?

Got a hold of the dealer this morning. I was put in touch with their service manager. He said this is the first gorilla glass warranty he had to do. But he doesn't see them saying no seeing as the Jeep has less than 300 miles on it. He also said that if they give him problems that they will go to bat for me. Seeing as I just got it and their product is supposed to be a little tougher than the OEM. The upgrade to the gorilla glass was only an additional $195. So even if I only get 1 replacement. It is definitely worth it.

He said he should hear something within 24-48 hours. I took it around lunch to have photos and stuff taken. The pebble hit the window right on the edge. So that is likely why it cracked so easily.

We will see. Fingers crossed!

Well that is worthless if a bunch of pebbles hit your windshield and pockmark it. So much for Gorilla’s reputation.

I view Gorilla Glass like Pyrex glass bake ware. Its robust but not break proof. When it cracks it tends to go to the extreme from the damage Ive seen on other vehicles with that product.

My regular OEM windshields on the JK and JL took plenty of hits resulting in liner cracks to starburst cracks. Every time I stopped them from spreading by applying heavy duty clear packing tape over the damage. A simple patch that even withstands windshield wiper blades and if it gets hazed from dirt just strip the old one off and apply a new patch. Fortunately none of the damage was straight in front of me.
