Hello. I have a 2018 JK unlimited. I’m in the process of upgrading the terrible stock system that came in it. The first thing I did was install new front speakers and tweeters. Let me tell you guys I’m not extremely tech or mechanically savvy, but with YouTube and research I usually do ok. After hours(days) of research and hundreds of product reviews, I still don’t know or feel confident in what I’m doing. Ok back to it. So I went with the alpine Spv-65x-WRA. They were easy enough to swap out with the directions and I got those from Crutchfield for right around $200. This was the 2x 6.5” snd 2 tweeters. (Im led to believe that if I use a component speaker I can have the tweeter and speaker by knee and an additional tweeter up top?is this good or necessary?)
Next I went with the Kenwood 7” in dash *pictured- it seemed to have every feature the others had and more, and I got it for $350 not $400. Got bullet reverse cam ($80) and some of those listed accessories that were required and $100 on radio pro steering wheel control interface. Those are at BestBuy and set to be installed on April 4, I can return or exchange any of this up until then. I then bought a sub and amp off Crutchfield. After a lot of research and still some confusion I went with the Rockford-Fosgate 12” p3d4-12 and sound ordinance bass bunker box off Crutchfield.
Hopefully someone stuck through this novel. The only other thing I know I need to purchase right now is the bass knob. Should all of this together make for a sound that can be loud and clear while having the ability to turn up bass and feel it in my soul?
Will this also not be enough and do I need an amp for the front speakers to really get their potential?
Should I return sub and amp and just get speakers for the front to replace roll bar speakers and an amp to crank em?
Overall I’m at around $1400 total already if I have what I’ve purchased installed if I get the speakers for rollbar and amp I’ll be sitting at around $17-1800. Is there a better way to go about this?
I’ve heard the full systems that alpine has for $2000 (without installation, but had speakers subs amp and I think faceplate), snd I’m confident this setup I have will sound much better for a few hundred less with installation.
Beat buy has total tech support for $200 a year. This membership currently includes free installation of almost all car products even if not purchased from Best Buy. This is saving me massive amounts on labor of the stuff I got from Crutchfield. Local audio shops charging 80/hr labor and say every part of this is 3 hours each.
WHAT SHOULD I DO? What did you do or hear that worked great?
