Doesn't look bad...looks to me like mostly surface rust. I've used Chassis Saver Paint that NAPA sells. It's a good product, I've been happy with it so far although I only put it on my frame a few months ago but it is holding up well. And I live in PA where they like to throw mound of salt on the road in winter. You either brush on or you can thin it and spray it too. It is similar to POR 15 (which is another good product I've just never used it).

What rust? Its all surface, nothing really to worry about. When you get to the holes in the frame part, then its a little worse off.

 

Yeah looks like just surface rust to me too. Not a thing to worry about. If you wanna prevent it from getting worse, which is gonna be a long ways off by the looks of those pics, I would use the Por 15 metal prep and rust paint. That stuff works great and is one of the toughest products Ive seen.

That is funny... My jeep probably had more rust on it than that when it was brand new.

Aside from that...the best thing to do is take care of it right where you are at. Sand it down and get a good coat of paint on it now.

 

You should see what a Buffalo Jeep looks like... I'm meticulous and just knowing that I have rust down there bothers me, I've been treating it and it's a work in progress. If I could I would pull everything off and por15 my entire frame and undercoat my tub. If I were you I would proof that thing while you've got so little prep work.

Not bad at all. If you're worried about it, take a wire wheel to it and give it a few spray can coats.
