Interface needed for aftermarket stereo or not?

Hey everyone, that's my question. I received a new Kenwood DPX 300U as a gift for Christmas and am looking at the installation kits available for it. Seems there's one that has the interface thing while the other less expensive kit does not. The only issue with the latter being I would have to run my own power supply. My 2009 JK is about as bare bones as a Unlimited X can get I guess as it does not have nav, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls, factory amp, etc.. The factory head unit is just a plain jane am,fm cd player. No frills, no Infinity. My biggest concern here is since I will be altering the factory electrical system I do not want to do something that will have the computer throwing codes and setting check engine or other warning lights.

Thanks,
MM

Only thing you need is the harness below if you do not want to cut and splice off the current factory radio harness. It will give you direct hookup to the radio harness side C1 connector that will give you constant 12VDC+, ground and speaker hookups. Only thing you need will be a switched accessory 12VDC+ that can be tapped from the accessory port power if needed.

Thanks for the info Hootbro. What I'm wondering about is it looks to me that since a switched power supply will be needed, the "can int bus" portion of the factory wiring as shown in the diagram wont be utilized with the wiring adapter. Is providing a switched 12v source the only thing the interface does? My main concern being since there will be an interruption in the "can int bus" the possibility of a problem being detected in the electrical system and a code being set.

This solution is for anyone out there looking for a bluetooth connection with your existing radio where the harness isn't an option and you don't need or want hands-free. I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler JK, and the harness apparently won't work for this (and several others) year/model. I wired this dongle to the 12v cig lighter wiring:

Milennia Bluetooth Dongle (35 bucks on Amazon)

I also didn't have rca jacks in the back, so I unfortunately had to run a wire from the glove box to the aux port in the front. Not perfect, but it doesn't look too bad, either. Required a couple of rca male/male adapters and a rca-to-1/8 stereo (standard headphone jack) cable for this solution. Est time for the job is ~1 hour. Hardest part is the dash removal and the wiring into the lighter wiring.
