Hi, I've noticed this problem when i'm under acceleration, my Jeep suddenly jerks or lurches. It feels like someone just tapped the clutch enough to disengage and re-engage. I have a 2012 JKU, manual transmission, around 50k miles. I've only had it happen twice, once while in 2nd gear and once while in 4th. Both times when under acceleration. It almost feels like it gets fuel starved for a split second to make the engine cough or something. Any idea what this might be? Or if it is a problem i should be getting checked out? There's no way that i could replicate it for a mechanic.

I'm not sure that it's the clutch. I had a clutch go out on my car and it doesn't feel anything the same. Engine misfire seems more suspect, does anyone know if this is a problem that i should get checked out or isn't it a big deal?

Apparently there were head issues on some 2012s. I don't know exactly what the issues were, but a bad head could cause loss of compression on some cylinders, which will cause a misfire.

I'd pull the plugs and inspect them before jumping to any conclusions.

If one of the plugs is fowled, maybe do a compression test on that cylinder.

Have you ever replaced the plugs and wires?

Well, finally was able to get the Jeep to the shop to have them check the plugs. I didn't feel like dealing with changing them so I'll let them do it. They said they are badly worn and need replacing. So thanks for the help and the advice guys!
