Key Fob Not Working

Replaced key fob battery. All contacts are good. Won't unlock or lock doors. Bell chiming when I open the driver door but not any of the other doors. Car turns on fine. I disconnected car battery for 2 minutes and reconnected. Key fob then locks and unlocks doors after reconnecting car battery. As soon as I start up car the key fob stops locking and unlocking doors again. I've disconnected and reconnected battery a couple times and key fob works both times after that but stops working after turning on and off car. I'm at a loss.

The fob is probably toast. We have one that only will unlock the doors if you are standing right next to the Jeep and holding it close to the window. I too have replaced the battery in the fob and it makes no difference. I assume it is just worn out and will look to replace it soon. I have it as a spare right now and my wife is using the other fob as her primary one.

It might be worth your time to check with a locksmith I recently bought my daughter a 2010 Honda Accord. I needed a new key and dealer wanted 180.00 just to make a duplicate. No local hardware stores can do them. Local locksmith was able to make one for 120.00. But my point is he had a computer that he hooked up to the car to program it and he could tell other stuff about the key. The first one we did would work everything but would not open the trunk. He was able to see what the key was and was not doing with the program he had. They might be able to tell you what the problem is.

I bought a project Jeep a while back. only had one key. Key started the engine fine, fob would lock the doors sometimes but nothing else

Was going to have the dealer make a couple new keys but couldn't swallow the nearly $500 they were going to charge. Found a product called SimpleKey on amazon. For $100 you get an uncut key and dongle you plug into OBD. bought an extra off brand fob key as well. Local locksmith charged me $8 to cut both blanks. I took the newly cut keys and followed the directions for the simpleKey and in about 10 minutes had 2 brand new working keys with full functioning key fobs
